Volume 2 Chapter 26: Slippery Like A Eel

Carmilla: "Since you've already revealed this much about your plan, let's proceed with it. It seems to be the only viable plan where we can create enough arrows to attack Daniel, potent enough to lower his health to critical levels, all while not alerting Daniel to our intention to lure him into our trap that could lead to his defeat. As you're the one who proposed this plan, tell me, what is the next step of the plan?"

Eve: "Apologies, Master, but I haven't yet thought of the next step of the plan."

============================

Carmilla said.

Carmilla: "It's fine, I guess we'll just have to wing it depending on the situation. We don't have much time left to discuss things since a minute or more has passed since we started planning. It would be very suspicious for us not to take action. It's understandable if we haven't done anything for a minute while we repair the blood dome and another minute to plan our next action. But more than that, it would appear a little suspicious. So, let's end our conversation here."

Eve: "Okay, master."

Carmilla then suggested.

Carmilla: "Let's inform Pepper that we're beginning."

Pepper: "I will be doing… then I will…"

When Carmilla connected to Pepper's mind, she saw this moment where Pepper was repeating all of her parts in the plan over and over again.

Pepper was so concentrated that she hadn't yet to noticed that Carmilla was listening to her repetitive thoughts. Carmilla felt hesitant to interrupt this rare moment of concentration, realizing it would be uncommon to see Pepper so focused again in the future.

Given her typically carefree personality, seeing her so focused was quite unusual. However, Carmilla needed to inform Pepper that they would be starting soon, realizing that the longer they delayed, the more cautious Daniel would become.

Carmilla said.

Carmilla: "Pepper, we're about to start. Are you ready?"

Pepper: "Then I should… huh"

Deep in thought, repeating all of her parts on the plan, Pepper was suddenly startled by Carmilla's voice.

Pepper asked.

Pepper: "Master, are we going to start?"

Carmilla then replied.

Carmilla: "Yes, Eve and I have finished discussing. Are you ready?"

Pepper: "READY!!!"

Carmilla said.

Carmilla: "Great! It's fantastic that you're so motivated because you'll be the core of the plan. Both Eve and I will be counting on you."

Upon learning from Carmilla that she was the core of the plan and they were counting on her, Pepper insisted to herself that she wasn't nervous at all. However, her body betrayed her honesty; her heart raced so fast that she felt her chest was about to go 'Ka-Boom' at any moment.

Her self-hypnosis seemed to work well since she didn't show any signs of nervousness except for her persistently fast-beating heart.

Their plan worked perfectly. Carmilla had expected around 65% to 90% accuracy in line with their discussed plan. Surprisingly, not only did everything go 100% according to their plan, but they even go over that and a achieved 110%, thanks to Pepper. Just before being hit, Pepper suddenly smirked at Daniel, stuning him adding that extra 10% to their success.

Pepper's suddensmirk at Daniel was not part of the plan they had discussed.

Now in his bat form, Daniel was being chased by a barrage of arrows, resembling a river due to their sheer number.

Daniel wondered where all of the arrows chasing him had come from, as he had meticulously ensured there were no traps before launching his attack on Pepper. He even glanced in the direction of the blood dome a few seconds prior.

There, he saw Carmilla and Eve inside, appearing very vigilant. However, he couldn't discern any trace of where all these arrows might have originated from.

He initially suspected that Carmilla and Eve might have used the blood steam around them, similar to how he had witnessed Pepper create shields from the blood steam to block his attack. However, he quickly ruled out this possibility, considering the vast difference between the amount of arrows chasing him and the amount of blood steam available.

The amount of blood steam available would not be sufficient to create the multitude of blood arrows relentlessly pursuing him.

While contemplating these thoughts, he continued dodging Carmilla's and Eve's attacks.

That's when he had to maneuver to a specific angle, allowing him to catch a glimpse of the direction where the blood dome was located, along with Carmilla and Eve's positions.

Instead of spotting the blood dome, he encountered a curved shield directly facing him, with Carmilla and Eve positioned behind it.

Following that, Carmilla and Eve attempted to corner Daniel, yet every time they were on the verge of trapping him, he managed to slip away like a slippery eel.

Each time Daniel managed to evade Carmilla's and Eve's attacks, he had a brief window to unleash a spell he had been casting.

While evading their attacks, Daniel targeted the unguarded spots of the shield behind which Carmilla and Eve were hiding, aiming for their vulnerable positions.

However, each time he released an attack spell, it would be swarmed by some of the arrows chasing him, causing the spell to be torn into pieces.

At times, he would be lucky, and one of his spells would manage to evade destruction. However, as his attacks got closer to the duo, the shield in front of them would swiftly shift to block the trajectory of his attacks, effectively blocking each attempt.

Carmilla began to grow frustrated as Daniel consistently evaded their attacks, slipping away whenever they seemed to have him cornered. It was then she recalled that there is a time limit to the [Bat Transformation] skill, and considering Daniel was currently at level 5, all his skills were maximized to level 5.

=

If their current [Bat Transformation] skill is at level 3 with a time limit of 2 minutes, then at level 5, the skill should theoretically have a longer time limit, possibly 3 minutes or more, considering the pattern of skill progression where time limits usually increase with skill level.

Carmilla added 2 increments of 30 seconds (which totals a minute) to the current 2-minute time limit of their [Bat Transformation] skill to estimate the potential time limit at level 5. By doing so, she arrived at a provisional time limit of 3 minutes for Daniel's skill at level 5.

Carmilla decided not to base their potential victory solely on the expected 3-minute time limit of Daniel's skill, as she believed it would make their strategy too predictable.
