Conversations in the Dark

While Ash finally settled into to sleep I stared at the dark ceiling and quietly freaked out.

Was it possible that Emory wasn't from this place either?

The thought was a weird combination of awesome and terrifying.

I wanted to throw the blankets back and leap out of the bed and go find her immediately, but what was I going to say? I knew that if I just straight up confronted her with this I was going to sound crazy if I was wrong. And besides, Ash was there. If Emory knew anything, I couldn't have that conversation in front of him! He'd think I was nuts too and who knew...

Frustrated, but becoming ever more certain that there was a mystery here to be discovered, I lay there silently. It felt like hours, tossing and turning and turning it all around and looking at it from every angle, but there was no other way that I could explain it.

There was no other way that she could know the use of those words.
