I crept back to the Seamstress rooms very, very late. I felt terrible to find Abigail and the seamstress—whose name turned out to be Kaitleen—still talking and bustling, making noises as if we were still working so the men outside wouldn't be suspicious.

I whispered apologies to them, but both waved me off. And though I saw Abigail give me a thoughtful look that scanned me from head to toe, she didn't ask me anything about what had taken so long.

They released me, still in the robe, to the weary and waiting arms of Ash, who looked very concerned when we finally left the suite and started down the hall.

"You must be exhausted," he said, his brow pinched.
