"Kissing?" I hissed at him. David blinked. "Kissing one man? You have ten—TEN—other women! TEN, David! And you were planning to sleep with them!"

He bristled. "I told you I wouldn't—"

"You told me you'd warn me before you did it! I hoped you wouldn't. I prayed you wouldn't—but you really think it doesn't cross my mind? You think I don't lay in bed at night wondering what those women are doing with you and to you and whether you're being honest with me? And you get angry with me for kissing one before I even met you?!"

Shadows clouded his eyes. "Because he is a suitor!"

"And yours aren't? Any one of those women would marry you tomorrow if you asked them, and you know it! And apparently they also signed up to jump into bed with you even without the proposal! You think that doesn't play on my mind? You think I don't compare how I measure against these women? Or wonder what will happen the day I've made you angry or—"
