~ ZARA ~
The last half hour of our time alone was… not really alone. We could hear careful, quiet servants bustling outside, gathering whatever it was that they believed were needed to help us get ready for the rest of this day, speaking in hushed whispers and cautioning each other.
And while I appreciated that they were trying not to interrupt us, neither of us could relax knowing that they were there.
Before the time had even come for us to get ready, we sighed and looked at each other. David donned his robe, and I pulled on a long nightgown that I hadn't even unfolded from my trunk, then as I sat on the bed, David went to the door and urged them to come inside and begin.
They'd be heating and hauling water for our baths, he'd already explained. While they would be quiet, we wouldn't be alone for close to an hour until they were done.
