A hair more weight against Fireknight's throat and I'd cut off his air entirely.

The temptation burned. All the ways this man had been near her, touched her, wanted her—I knew the fire in his head, and body. I knew the thoughts that would torment him day and night. Even if he'd restrained himself, I knew what entered his head when he looked at her, because they were the same thoughts that had tortured me for weeks.

But she wanted me. She needed me.

She'd said yes to me.

Man to man, we stared at each other, fire in both our eyes, rage churning in my chest because I knew this man lacked honor. He was determined to undermine the truth of Zara's love for me, and he'd become desperate enough to stop pretending otherwise.

Gripping one wrist to keep his hand pinned up against the wall, I'd leaned in harder with that forearm to his neck, so our noses almost touched. "I know what you're doing," I hissed. "And you will not succeed."
