Conspirators

~ ASH ~

Carrying Lizbeth away in the ensuing chaos after Zara stabbed David was surprisingly easy. Thousands of citizens were fleeing so the few guards who'd stayed at their positions and been smart enough not to rush the stage, were expecting to see bodies rushing by.

The woman herself had been terrified when I'd grabbed her, screaming for help, but then going utterly silent when I hiked her under my arm and ran.

No one noticed when, instead of following the road out of the Palace grounds and back towards the city, I took a side gate into the gardens that ran between the Palace walls and the servants entrance.

And by the time we got out of the walls entirely and into the surrounding countryside, the focus of the guards and soldiers still remained within the walls.
