Behind the Shroud

~ DAVID ~

It was a tradition of the Royal Wedding that on the morning of the ceremony, when both parties were prepared, they would be given time alone to speak an hour or two before the vows.

Of course, it was also tradition that the royal couple not see each other in their finery before the ceremony.

In the way of royals, that meant there were strict rules and rituals to follow. Though Zara and I had already broken the most important of them by marrying months earlier and waking together this morning, I still found myself thrilled by the prospect of fulfilling these traditions.

So, a couple of hours before the ceremony was to start, I was ushered into a large room where a thick veil had been hung from the ceiling and drawn across the space, splitting the room in two.
