It seemed to take forever to get things cleared up, but apparently it was only half an hour.
At first, after I begged them all to stop killing people, everyone just stood around, looking for more danger. All of us were nervous, panting, expecting an attack from any quarter. But… nothing happened.
My sister, and my mother had both disappeared, which meant they were loose in my world. If I was a twin, and I could dream, chances were that my sister could too, which meant she could be anywhere.
But there was nothing we could do about that, except keep in mind the risk that she posed. "We need to have a… a password," I murmured to David while the guards began to cover Abigail and carry her from the room. "Something that… a word that only you and I know. That we can use to check with each other. If she comes back, David… you need to be able to know for certain that it's me. Anytime."
He nodded solemnly. "What do you suggest?"
