As the sunlight began to fill the room Hana's tired body wanted nothing more than to roll over and get some more sleep. She had only fell asleep a few hours ago and now It was time to get started. Luna's tail thumped against the floor quickly ready to be let outside to do her business.
"Okay okay girl I hear you", Hana says and can't help but laugh as the eager pup jumps up from her spot on the floor and barks in excitement as Hana gets up and stretchs. "Let's go".
Once Hana lets her out of the house she walks to the kitchen to make a bowl of porridge because for the first bit of the trip she is sure that they aren't going to want to make many stops.
"I've already got your breakfast right here Hana. You will want to stay slim so I sliced you up an apple and some strawberries", Hana's mom says while pushing a small bowl towards her disappointed daughter.
"Okay mom", is all Hana manages and eats the small serving of fruit knowing she would be hungry with in an hour. It stays quiet like that for another thirty minutes before her mom begins a conversation.
"You are so Lucky Hana. Imagine marrying into royalty, you're practically a princess. I envy you my gorgeous girl you've had everything handed to you and you don't realize it", her mom says as she looks around the house dreamily. Hana is not particularly angered by her mom's words, having grown used to her mom's personality. She often says what she thinks and comes off as harsh. She is Hana's mother though and she took care of her all of her life. A person always loves their parents even if they aren't perfect. There is a debt there you can never repay.
They begin to set the chests in front of the house and Hana's mom decides to do her hair and pick out her dress. Once she has Hana's hair situated in a half up do she picks a light blue dress that fits snuggly to her daughter's body. Hana shifts in discomfort to which her mom reprimands with a swat from her hand.
"Your such a beautiful girl Hana quit fidgeting like a nervous child".
Hana holds still and lets her smooth out all the creases to her hearts content and when she looks into her daughter's eyes she has a teary grin painted on her face.
"I'm going to miss you my lovely girl. Though we are different as night and day you will always be my precious gift. I hope this marriage will bring you more happiness than any of us could ever dream of and that you will learn to love each other as I have your dad", she whispers before kissing Hana's cheek and hugging her tightly.
Hana gasps in shock at her mothers action and what she just said. I
She didn't know that her mom and dad had an arranged marriage, they never mentioned that. She opens her mouth to question her mother about it when Luna starts barking and the clip-clop of hooves can be heard outside. In an instant her mother is outside as if that tender moment hadn't happened and she's ordering the guards on where to put the chests.
A palace carriage awaits and Hana feels like she is being herded to it like a sheep. She grabs Luna to which the carriage driver looks annoyed that Hana shoots right back in response. The two guards that are accompanying her load up the chests and rush the goodbyes insisting the need to hurry, that they are on a tight schedule.
"Take care of yourself Hana, and remember if things feel impossible and you don't know what to do, make sure to never give up. We always find a way. Its in our blood after all." With one last pat on the hand , a bag of dried treats for the road and an affectionate head rub to Luna she removes herself from the carriage door and the carriage takes off.
"I love you mom", Hana shouts out loudly needing her to know because she is not sure when she will see her again. She nods in response waving to her as they drive farther and farther away.
The inside of the carriage was really nice. Large cushioned seats decorated in gold and red and carrying the palace crest. Luna was not a big fan of being in the carriage and laid behind Hana's legs in anxiousness. She watches the scenery going by the door waiting till they come through town. As they get close to the store Hana sees Jackson and Ally standing outside waiting to wave goodbye to her. She notices Ally's hand laying on Jackson's shoulder and for the first time realizes just how wonderful those two could be together. She feels hope bloom in her heart that maybe Ally would be the one that Jackson will fall for when he forgets about her.
"Goodbye Jackson and Ally I'll miss you both", Hana says waving with tears flowing, knowing that her friends would always remain here and she'd never see them again.
Leaving the town and taking a road to the right they begin a path Hana had never traveled before in her life. She watches the scenery till her eyelids grow heavy and she can't stay awake any longer.
Hana's awoken by a knock on the door that causes Luna and herself to both jolt awake.
"Sorry Miss but we've come to a rest stop for the night and we figured you'd like to get out and stretch your legs before it gets dark", the guard with short brown hair says. Hana thanks him and takes advantage of the time to stretch her limbs that are stiff from the ride. Luna barks happily and makes her way over to a stream not to far away. "Don't stray to far from the carriage miss there's been reports of vampires and werewolves in here recently."
Hana who had been drinking from a canteen when he decided to tell her this ends up getting strangled. "What are you serious, their settlements quite a bit away. How come the villagers haven't been made aware that there are some hanging around here", she asks fearfully.
"To avoid reactions like that", the older graying guard grunts out looking at Hana with displeasure. Hana whistles bringing Luna running back to her instantly and she picks her up in her arms. Maybe she is over reacting but she had heard the stories of what happens when one snaps. She walks a little bit more but once the sun begins to set Luna and herself make their way back to the dimly lit carriage. With the new thoughts of vampires and werewolves she fall into and uneasy sleep.
