Inside a very dark cave, seven souls clothed in a black cloak stood round an alter which on top of it were three huge burning red candles placed in different dimensions with a symbol drawn in the middle of it. These seven souls were the supreme witches of the Dark North clan. They were four men and four women. But one was missing and that was the reason their gathering for that day was yet to commence.
"Where's Helena?" Lucas one of the men asked afterwards as he stares at the three women finally settling at Michelle the one closest to Helena.
"Maybe she's running late...." Michelle answered as she sighed looking at the entrance of the cave to see if there's any Helena in sight.
"That Bitch...who does she even think she is to keep us waiting like this. Can't we do this without her?" Graciela said as she turned to look at her fellow witches and wizards. It was obvious that her frustrations had built up so much that she couldn't help letting out some steam coupled with the fact that she personally doesn't like the likeness of Helena at all. The reason? No one knew.
"Ella is right... we all came here for a very important issue and I must say that it was well announced before now. Also this is not the first or the second time Helena has done this." Another wizard, Damian joined in the conversation.
Silent met his words. No one could speak after Damian spoke. After all, it was true about Helena's short comings at their gathering. However, Louis their leader who had been silent all this while spoke.
"I heard that one of us has started practicing black magic....." His voice was stern but his eyes glittered with anger.
"Any suspect?" He asked as he glanced at them intently one by one tapping his first and middle fingers on the alter, something he does whenever he's angry.
With that question, all the others shook their heads as they look at each other murmuring some words inaudible to anyone close to them. Minutes passed, but the only thing visible was silence which lasted a few more minutes before Lucia their youngest and most impulsive member broke it.
"I think its Helena... because I can't seem to see the reason she's been avoiding our gatherings lately..." She accused while eyeing Michelle who scoffed a laugh. Instantaneously, all gaze was shifted to her.
"What!...,Are you insinuating Helena practices black magic?" Andrew who was by her side questioned in a cursory manner but he was ignored.
"We all know that Helena can never do anything like that....."
Louis cuts in as he pointed his finger at Michelle who tried to defend her friend. "what explains her recent attitude towards our gathering and I have notice that she can now manipulate nature especially wind and water....and we all know what that means. Care to explain? Because we all know that you are the one closest to her." He asked as he shrugged his shoulders and Michelle glared daggers at him.
"We all know how powerful Helena is....."
"Yes, we know how powerful she is but manipulating wind and water in a twinkle of an eye seems suspicious... or doesn't it? Lucas asked.
His words felt like slap on her face. Still, her sense of injustice was perceptible.
Michelle sighed." I know and I"m still finding it hard to believe that Helena would do something like that. I mean why would she do something that would send her to her death?"
Louis, their leader who had been filled with the dread- a fear that grew from greed and resentment ever since he discovered how powerful Helena is and sees her as a threat. However, it was Helena who had been blessed by the heavens with the power to manipulate wind and water. The power which she inherited from her great great grand mother Rivera, the Dark North clan coven's founder.
Even if Helena had always shown her loyalty to their clan, Louis was certain that she would someday usurp his place as the Clan leader, thus this accusation.
This accusation was said to be a major felony in the Dark North clan. Anyone who ever breaks it would be burnt to death.
But in reality, Louis just wanted to get rid of Helena who is more powerful than him.
"Helena...."
Michelle couldn't do anything but sigh in frustration for her friend. Even if she and Helena were close friends more like sisters, she had always known the type of person Helena is. But she couldn't really pretend her friend was still the same - not after she was suddenly gifted the power to manipulate wind and water.
However...
There was nothing she could do to convince them. Helena was the one blessed by the heavens. Normally, only those blessed with the power to manipulate wind and water could be the leader of the Dark North Clan. But as long as she was alive, no one in the clan would view Louis as the leader. Thus she has to be eliminated.
It's unfair.... It's injustice....
"Prepare, we are moving to Helena's tonight..." Louis said, secretly hiding the sacred staff kept at the back of the alter in his inner cloak. No one knew because he is their leader and only he has access to it. No one could question his order.
"And we move now....."He said with a cold smirk as he made his way out of the cave while the others followed.
