Ethan stared at Alex carefully as he wrote on the reports he had brought, he looked up when Alex sighed for the umpteenth time.
"Alex, What is really going on??" He demanded.
Alex dropped the pen in his hand and looked up, he was so restless and couldn't even sleep throughout the night because all he was thinking about is Kimberly.
"I just, I just don't know... I think am going crazy.." Alex muttered:
"What do you mean..?" Ethan asked and Alex looked away.
How does he tell his best friend that couldn't get his mate out of his mind all through the night and even now?
Thou, he had told them about Kimberly being his mate but how do he tell them that he was afraid that his mate might reject him even before they even start??
However..
Alex made to call in a guard to go get Kimberly for him but he changed and decided to go on his own.
"Going somewhere??" Ethan asked as he saw Alex stand all of a sudden.
"Yes.." Alex said.
"I need to go to her before I lose my mind.." he muttered the last part but Ethan heard him.
"Did something happen??" Ethan asked.
Alex nodded and explained everything to him.
"Wow, that's feisty.." Ethan chuckled.
"Am seriously telling you, I've gotta go now.."
He muttered and Ethan nodded with a smile.
However...
Not long after, Alex was still walking to Kimberly's room when he saw the familiar figure of Camilla and Old man Liu standing in front of Kimberly's room and his brows furrowed.
"What's going here..?" Alex asked and immediately both Camilla and Old man Liu made a little bow before she answered.
"She'd locked herself inside since yesterday and I couldn't persuade her to come out. I don't know what's happening..." She informed Alex who was already standing not far from them. Camilla's voice was filled with panic and worry that immediately Alex's furrowed brows deepened.
In the next seconds he was standing Infront of the door and grabbed the door knob but it was locked. Heaving a deep sigh, Kimberly's scent filled his nose as a mate's was stronger than any other scent that they could scent.
He trailed his finger on the door while considering breaking it down and forcing his way in but unfortunately he doesn't wanna scare his mate more than he already did when he left that red mark on her wrist yesterday.
"Get me the spare key.."
Came his voice after a while.
Almost immediately, a guard brought the key and handed it to Alex with a bow before walking away, surprising Camilla.
She was speechless...
Wasn't it some minutes ago that she here and at a loss of what to do and now this man in front of her had...
Why didn't she think of that..??
Instantly.., He plunged the key into the and almost immediately, the 'click' sound was heard in the walkway and he impatiently walked inside the room with the worried Camilla trailing beside her.
Instantly, his eyes scanned the entire room and finally he found his not so little woman under the sheets with sheets covering her whole body except her head.
As Alex got closer, he suddenly stopped in his tracks as his eyes landed on his mate's trembling.
Instantaneously, Alex rushed to the bed in a swift motion and placed his right palm on Kimberly's head and...
She was burning up!
"Come to the Castle right now, My mate is burning up.."Alex immediately mind link Old man Chen, who responded immediately.
However...
At that moment..
"Oh.. no! this can't be happening.." Camilla who was beside Alex muttered but Alex heard her and looked up.
"Is there something I should know..?" Alex asked the worried Camilla.
"Actually, today is her birthday.." Camilla trailed and Alex's eyes narrowed.
"And also the same day she almost lost her life in accident but.."Camilla trailed again.
"But..?!" Alex inquired.
"Uhm, I don't know if you might want to hear this..., Kim's powers as a witch was sealed on the day she was born and it was supposed to be unsealed after her eighteenth birthday. But unfortunately, her mother who was supposed to unseal her powers died a day before her birthday. Having overaged the required age to unseal her powers, Kim's powers began looking for ways to unseal itself and you and I know what will happen to her if that happens.." Camilla explained.
Having heard of that, Alex's jaw clenched at how miserable his mate has been and right at that instant, he swore within himself to get justice for his mate himself...
However...
Not long after Camilla finished talking, the door of the room opened and Old man Chen walked into the room. Immediately he got to were Kimberly laid, a trace of worry flashed in his eyes and he sighed.
What a miserable child...
Does she even know what to live a happy life feels like?
Immediately, old man Chen brought out his medical equipments and began treating Kimberly.
After a while, he was done, he told Alex the necessary things he needed to know about the prescribed herbs mixture.
Well, Alex doesn't believe in the modern ways of administering drugs and hospitals.
However...
As old man Chen made to leave, Alex's voice made him stop abruptly.
"We need to talk talk.."
Came his voice.
Minutes later...
After Camilla and her grand father Old man Liu left the room, Old man Chen and Alex were seen on the balcony of Kimberly's room as they discussed.
However...
While in the middle of their discussion, Alex was quick to notice something off. It was as if old man Chen was hiding something from him and from what he'd noticed, it seemed to be from what happened that night he had change into his beast form on his way to see his arrogant sheep.
And now that he thought of it, how did he end up waking up from inside the cottage, when old man Chen could have just took him to his chambers?
And how come he doesn't remember anything that happened that night?
At that moment...
"What happened in the forest that night??" Came Alex's cold voice all of a sudden.
At that instant, Old man Chen slumped on the ground, he was on his knees trembling over.
"Please forgive me Alpha, I never planned to hide any of it from you... I was only looking for her that night.." Old man Chen said with a trembling voice. He knows what an angry Supreme Alpha Alex looks like, and to add to him that his mate gone missing all because of his incompetency to protect his not so little woman.
"Tell me, What happened??" Alex said and at that instant, Old man Chen told him everything that happened that night without leaving a single word out.
Not long after he finished telling Alex what happened. Alex wanted to say something but a grunt made him swallow whatever he wanted to say.
"Ughh..."
They heard again.
Immediately, Alex dashed into Kimberly's room, only to find her trembling vigorously. At that moment, old man Chen also walked in, he went towards Kimberly and place his palm on her forehead, only for his brows to furrow in a frown.
At that moment...
Old man Chen turned and face him with a sad face.
"What's going on? Why is she suddenly trembling again?" Alex asked impatiently.
"She has to Dip, Alpha.." Old man Chen dropped the bombshell.
"What??" Alex felt like his ears were deceiving him when he heard that. He didn't need a soothsayer to tell him what old man Chen meant when he said that his mate has to Dip.
"There's no other way..."
