The Science of Deduction

Daniel and Erin lay in bed, while Erin snacked on some strawberries and read an article on her cellphone.

"What are you reading?" Daniel asked taking a strawberry from the bowl.

"It's an article about the importance of bonding with your baby after birth."

"Mhmm?" Daniel looked at the phone, "Won't that just happen naturally?"

Erin read the words on the screen with great concentration, "I guess... Apparently... having skin to skin contact with the baby after birth is really important, it helps regulate their breathing and heartbeat. Did you know that?"

Daniel looked at the screen, "No... but it makes sense."

He took the phone from her and put it on the bedside table.

"Get some sleep, we have work tomorrow, then the scan with Dr.Tang."

He switched off the light and Erin lay awake in the dark. She didn't want to share how worried she was about the scan tomorrow. Doctor Tang had mentioned in the last appointment that the gender will be apparent in the next ultrasound.
