4 Arrested!

They parked on the side of a dark high-way, lit by tall streetlights and the passing cars that continued to speed past them.

Lina gulped and looked around, "Why did you stop?"

He pressed a triangular button in the car, turning on a soft orange light and unbuckled his seatbelt.

Lina's eyes wandered awkwardly around the confined space, and eventually fixed on her lap when ShaoQing turned to face her and leaned in closer.

"Why are you nervous Lina?" he asked taking her jaw between his fingers.

She instinctively retracted at his touch, leaning back on the car door.

"Shao... I..."

"What's wrong? Aren't you happy to be here? With me?"

His warm hand rubbed her upper arm and she swallowed her nerves.

"Lina we aren't strangers. We've been working together for years." he spoke convincingly.

"Sure I am happy to be here..." she spoke breathily, "Or else I wouldn't have come... but it's late... and..." she stopped speaking when he placed two hands on her cheeks and slid his fingers behind her ears; removing her glasses.

"There." he breathed a smile and folded the glasses, placing them on the dashboard.

"Much better without..."

"Oh." she sighed, blinking as her eyes tried to adjust.

Her vision was blurry, but she could still make out the shape of his face, and she was painfully aware of how close he was getting.

"Shao?" she blinked through strained eyes, "Is this a date?" Lina asked, feeling like she needed some kind of clarification.

He chuckled softly, and squeezed her left arm, "Do you want it to be?"

She blushed at the flirtatious tone, but she also felt slightly annoyed by his ambiguous answer.

She summoned some courage and sat forward attempting to kiss him, but accidentally knocked her head against his.

"Ouch!" they both said simultaneously.

Lina laughed awkwardly, rubbing her forehead, "Sorry, I can't see well without my glasses."

Shao rubbed his face and laughed, "That's fine, just close your eyes."

She felt dumbstruck when he suddenly grabbed both of her shoulders and pressed his warm lips against hers. His body leaned in close and pushed her up against the car door. The door handle poked sharply in her back, but she ignored it because the feeling of the embrace was amazing.

The kiss seemed to awaken a lost feeling inside of her, of longing to be touched, desired, wanted.

His kiss was dry and closed-mouthed but still satisfying, and when he removed his touch, she involuntarily leaned into him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Lina," he said with a crack in his voice.

However before he could continue his sentence, they were both blinded by a gleaming white light being shone through the window.

"What the..?" Shao said squinting at the window.

A tall, older man wearing a police uniform rapped at the glass window, with a knock, knock, knocking and beamed the ray of his flashlight in at them.

The man spoke in a commanding voice, "Step outside of the vehicle!"

ShaoQing jumped nervously in his placed and quivered like a child as he opened the car door and stepped out.

"You too Miss!" ordered the officer.

Lina scrambled around, trying to unbuckle the seatbelt at fast as possible and was immediately met by another, larger officer who proceeded to pull her roughly by the arm out of the car and press her up against the cold metal door.

"Wha... What did we do officer?" ShaoQing stuttered.

Lina rolled her eyes, at the desperate tone in Shao's voice. For such a cocky man, he seemed to have quickly wilted into a scared little boy in front of the shiny badges and ironed uniforms.

"It is a criminal offence to partake in intimate activities in a public place!" the other officer shouted whilst grabbing ShaoQing roughly by his jacket and shining a light in his face.

Lina's eyes started to well with tears. Never before, had she felt so humiliated, was she being arrested for kissing a guy in a car?

That was her first kiss in four years!

Can't I catch a break!? she fretted internally.

"Sir, we weren't doing anything!" ShaoQing pleaded with beads of sweat rolling down his face, "I was just having a chat with my girlfriend... Look..." he said pulling out his wallet, "I am a teacher at Chaoyang International School.... we teach some of the richest children in Beijing! Sons of ambassadors and CEO's...."

"Hmmm.." the tall officer studied the ID card and glanced over at Lina.

The other officer maintained a firm grip on Lina's wrists, behind her back whilst pressing her firmly against the car.

"He checks out... but what about her?" said the officer to his large colleague.

"Sun JingGuo, frisk her!"

The large man began to pat Lina's body all over.

"Hey!" she protested wriggling around as he pressed her harder onto the car and ran his hands over her back and cupping her buttocks over the tight dress.

The man kneeled down and ran a hand up her bare leg to her upper thigh, causing her to shiver and fall back on him. The man caught her by the waist and laughed, "Where did you pick this one up?"

"What!" Lina said attempting to face him, "I am a teacher too! No one picked me up!"

The man smiled feeling her fight his grip and move her body aggressively.

"Yes, yes she is my colleague at the school!" Wen ShaoQing insisted.

The first officer looked doubtfully, scanning his beady eyes over Lina's tight, short dress and messy hair.

Lina wasn't wearing her usual coat and glasses, and they had caught her at an awkward time; in the arms of a guy, in a car on a dark highway, so naturally they assumed that she was some kind of streetworker!

"My bag!" she exclaimed, trying to wriggle out of the man's tight grip, "Check my ID in my bag!"

Officer Sun shrugged and reached in for the small black leather purse.

He pulled out a card and studied the picture.

"Well?" his partner asked.

The officer tutted and shook his head, "Looks nothing like her."

"What!" Lina shouted appalled, "Okay, okay... that photo is a couple of years old but usually I don't dress like this and... Oh! My glasses are in the car! Let me show you!" She jumped forward into the car, and fumbled a clumsy hand around for her glasses, with blurry vision.

Officer Sun watched as the young woman in a short dress, bent over the passenger seat in front of him, feeling around the dashboard with crazy, grasping hands.

"Okay Miss... You are clearly drunk!" he said leaning over and scooping her up by the waist from behind.

Lina was in shock as the huge man picked her clear off the ground and carried her to the police car.

"Hey! Let me go!" she fought, kicking her legs.

"I am not drunk, I am just blind!"

The officer laughed and threw her into the backseat and quickly closed the door on her.

Wen ShaoQing watched, utterly stunned and glued to his spot.

"You are free to go." said the policeman.

"But... my girlfriend?" he said with wide eyes.

"We will retain her at the station until we can positively identify her... do you want to join her?" the officer smirked.

ShaoQing's mouth hung open in disbelief, "Please sir, she really is my colleague... I can't leave her."

The officers cackled together, "Ha! Your girlfriend, your colleague? Choose one and stick to it!"

Wen ShaoQing placed his hands on the steering wheel and looked like he would throw up, "What can I do sir?"

"You can follow us to the station and pay a release fee, or else she will stay until the morning... that's what happens to most prostitutes."

Wen ShaoQing nodded, "Fine, I will pay."

...

Lina sat in the back of the police car and crossed her arms.

This was so humiliating; to be mistaken for a prostitute!

Lina hadn't had a boyfriend in years, not since university and even then, she had never been serious physically.

"Let's go sweet-cheeks!" joked Officer Sun as the two men got into the car and pulled out.

Lina sat in the back of the car, stubbornly pouting and trying to avoid Officer Sun's eyes that watched her through the rearview mirror.

"You will regret this..." she muttered under her breath.

"She's a fighter this one!" the police officer joked.

Officer Sun grinned, "Yes Bao, but let's see how fiesty she is when I search her at the station."

Lina gulped nervously at the ominous words.

Search her? What does that mean?
