168 I Don't Need Your Approval

That weekend Lina Liang got dressed and entered her kitchen to grab a dish she had cooked earlier. She covered the glass dish of sesame chicken with plastic wrap, and left her apartment.

Almost every weekend, Lina would attend dinner at her father's place. It was boring and the same conversations would always come up, but Lina knew that she couldn't shut her family out completely.

So she drove across the city with the radio blaring, trying to stay in a positive mood before her dad killed it.

Lina parked her little car outside of the newly opened grocery store beside their building.

After the fire, the shop was repaired and the insurance covered the damages. Funny, Lina thought, how the store that had sat in her father's family for generations was now in the hands of a 'Kim.'

'Kim's Grocers' was a nice change to the neighborhood and even Lina admitted that her step-mother was doing a good job of running things.
