229 Julie's Perspective

The girls all clapped and squealed excitedly and Julie felt kind of overwhelmed, having a group of friends around her and a mother figure sing happy birthday in her ear was something she never thought she'd have.

Ever since her grandmother had fallen sick, over three years ago, life just seemed pointless. Her Nana was the most important person to her, she had raised her ever since she could remember and she was, in Julie's heart, the closest thing to a mom.

That was until she met Lina, Julie had intentionally set her eye on Lina, years and years ago.

Back then, her dad would rarely call and she barely saw him but whenever they did speak, he'd ask about school and Julie would make sure to mention Miss Liang and how amazing and smart she was. Her dad liked that, especially when she would describe what Miss Liang looked like.
