231 Family and Fortune are Earned, not Given

Lina watched her brother stuff the bowl of noodles in his mouth. This kid looked like he barely ate; his sweater was so baggy and he swallowed each mouthful like a man unsure of where his next meal was coming from.

"Are you okay Yan?" Lina asked him as they both sat on the sofa.

"You look tired?"

"I'm fine..." he sighed, "Just dad has asked me to stay away from the store for a while and I'm a little short on cash."

"What happened?" Lina asked curiously.

Yan slurped another hungry mouthful of noodles and held the bowl under his chin while Lina placed a towel on his lap for him.

"Uh... It's just that dad has a problem with me and my friends hanging around the store. It's like he doesn't even trust me anymore, Lina I've changed! I've been going to that doctor every week and taking the prescription, I barely smoke any more and I was just trying to have some fun... I mean does he expect me to have no social life?"
