'Happy' Birthday

Days were passing. It was the night of award ceremony. The relation between Raunak and Drishti didn't change. Drishti never joined his office and Dadu didn't force her.

" So how did you get that map? Isn't it from Universal's collection?"

" I broke into the secret room." Drishti said proudly. She got a little tap on her head , " That was dangerous. Don't do that in future. If the CEO found you, you could have been in trouble. If you need something from that company, ask me. Okay?"

Drishti pressed her lips together and nodded, "You know the CEO quiet well? Don't worry. The day I will feel I can't fight alone anymore, I will ask for your help. But tell me just for to help me, you won't hurt your emotions. "

" Don't be such a mom. I am always there for you and why would I hurt my emotions?" He raised an eyebrow.

" Nothing. The award is going to be announced. Let's see if I got it or not."

" Nothing to see. What's the difference? You won't go to receive it. I have to go on behalf of you. I don't know what I saw in you as a publisher. " He sighed.

" Rajiv bro, it hurts." She made a sad face and pouted.

Rajiv laughed at her cuteness and poked her forehead, " Drama queen. "

There was a announcement, " THE AWARD GOES TO AUTHOR AAROHI."

Rajiv and Drishti looked at each other. Drishti guestered him to get up. Rajiv laughed and went to the stage to receive it.

After receiving the award they left the ceremony.

" I think you should take it as your profession. You've got too much awards. Yet you didn't publicise yourselfas Aarohi." Rajiv suggested.

" I am not a professional writer and it was just sharing my own experience. And if I start to change profession, then I need to count how many works I can take as profession. You know I am good at many things."

Rajiv rolled his eyes,"You are full of yourself. But this is the first time books on history went bestseller. But what are you going to do with this award? Just to lock it in a luggage?"

" The luggage is full, take it with you." She laughed bitterly. It was true. In the last few years she got a lot of awards and she locked all of them in a luggage.

" Buy a new luggage. " Rajiv shook his head.

" I am not a businessman like you. It's end of the month, I'm out of money."

Rajiv breaked the car and looked at her amusingly, " Don't forget, I have your bank statement but no comment on that. By the way, tell me are you coming tonight?"

" Tonight? Where? It's almost 11.30. I need to go. Or else my husband will bury me alive. I was never that late before. I can't go anywhere now." She didn't find any of her work pending.

" Nothing. Go home and inform me. And keep your phone open, I will call you later."

Drishti nodded and went out of the car. Rajiv looked at her back and shook his head, " This workaholic forgot her own birthday."

Drishti reached to the house and found her parents were present there. She was shocked but happy to see them. They never reached her after the marraige.

" Where were you all the time?" Her father asked.

" Do ýou know how much tensed we were? Dri, you got married now. You can't do what you want all the time." Her mother warned.

Drishti sighed. She was wrong, they came here just to scold her. She smiled bitterly and apologised.

" You should have informed me, dear. Why did you put your phone switched off? We were very tensed about you." Dadu said to her.

" Go and say sorry to Raunak. He was very tensed about you. It's already late. We are leaving. " Her parents left with that.

She went to Raunak's room and knocked the door. Indeed it was late. She could have informed them. Raunak deserves a sorry now. Raunak opened the door and looked at her coldly. His eyes were red with anger. He grabbed her hands with force and pinned her to the wall. Drishti tried to force herself free but went in vain.

" Where were you? Where the hell you went? Are you lack of money or something here that you went to other men to earn money? What else you can do in the late night? You know how much Dadu was tensed for you? He scolded me take care of you. but a girl like you disgust me" He said very coldly.

Drishti stopped moving. She stood there with a blank motion. She looked at his eyes and said, " Isn't it a better option than taking your money?"

Slap! A huge slap with force landed on her cheek. She closed her eyes and tried to stand still.

" You slut! What can you do except it. You got married to a rich husband but you still needs money? Huh! After all a middle class girl like you didn't see that much money in her life. But you want to play with men, don't you? I will show you how to play." He grabbed the back of her head forcefully and let one hand go under her dress. He started touching her in a savage way and leaned closed to her . Drishti kicked him with force and grabbed his hands behind his back tossing him. She pinned him to the wall with force," I never say something, doesn't mean I can't. I never protest doesn't mean I don't know how to protect myself. But you know what, I don't find you worthy of my emotions. You disgraced me a lot, but remember never touch my bottom line, never ever."

She used so much force that Raunak hardly freed himself from her grip. She pinned his head to the wall forcefully and make him look at her eyes.

" Listen Mr. Raunak Sen. Yes, I am a middle class girl but I have more self respect than you. And yes, I am a gold digger. But I don't hanker after money like you. Whatever I may be, I never like to judge and hurt a person without knowing anything. Maybe I don't have money, but I have dignity and will power more than you think. It's not easy to break me." Her eyes were at the dark shade of red. There was not moist today but it was rather dry and furicious. She left him and stormed to her room. She took out her phone and sent a text, " Take the CCTV footage of the award ceremony and send it to Raunak Sen."

She controlled her anger and went out of the house in a hurry. She went to the garden and lied down on the grass hands under her head letting the cold breeze touching her and cooling her mind. She lied there like a statue and looked at the dark cloudy sky. She smiled bitterly and muttered, " 3, 2 , 1, happy birthday to me."
