Koala
Tara threw herself into my arms immediately she saw me, she borrowed her head into my neck and scented me.
"Oh, Ko, he's really dead, he's dead, who's going to take care of us?"
She sobbed, I wrapped my left hand around her back while my right hand caressed her head, I sighed, inhaling her scent. Tara always smelt like home.
I looked up when I heard Diana growl
"I'm not going to stay in a hotel, you're taking us with you."
"Are you crazy, I can't, I'm on a mission here."
Diana chuckled, "don't you worry about that, just call us your friend or something."
"You don't understand me.…."
"You will take us with you Koala." Diana said in her stern voice and I hated her in that minute, sure her father was my master, but he was dead now which meant she was now my master but not officially, but it was inbred in me to follow a command.
I nodded despite my displeasure.
******
On reaching the house which was weirdly quiet I had a feeling something was wrong, I glanced back at Diana who kept her poker face in place and wondered how she wasn't affected by her father's death, she didn't even look like she was in shock but Tara was the one with the swollen face, I pitied her the most 'cause she was the one who had a father daughter relationship with my master at best.
I had a war raging inside of me, should I ask permission from the Alpha before taking them to my room or just take them using the gift of the night.
The former won, pushing the door that led to the biggest living room I'd ever seen, open, I glanced around in confusion, all the lights were turned off.
I inhaled deeply and stopped midstep, too many scents coming from different directions. The eyes I right now limited the way I could see in the dark because it wasn't my real eyes, but when I really looked I saw silhouette figures.
"Stop!." I barked, but it was too late, they had us surrounded in seconds then the lights came back on.
The Alpha and beta stood with us in the middle glaring, and at the back to the left side stood the real Octavian.
I blanched in shock, I had a moment to process before my training took over, believing that Diana and Tara knew what to do.
Tara unsheathed her Katana, Diana let out her claws and snarled at them showing her fangs while I did my fighting stance, and we formed a triangle.
The Alpha looked impressed for a moment before the glare replaced it.
"Would you explain yourself or would we have to force you."
I scoffed, "I'd love to see how?"
"Please, no fighting, we just all have a misunderstanding." Octavian said, coming forward.
"Would you listen to me first?"
"I killed you, how are you alive?" No really, I really wanted to know.
I saw the move, before I heard the growl. Cara jumped at me, I sidestepped her and kicked the side of her knee hard, she went down with a cry. Tara moved immediately and held her head then placed the katana on her neck.
Octavian growled, the enforcers growled but a word from the alpha made them all stop advancing.
"Anyone take a step further and she's dead." I growled.
"No one would be attacking you, and you don't need to pretend anymore, show us your real face."
"Why should I?"
"Show me!"
His alpha voice cut through me like a whip that I had no idea I was changing until I felt the brush of my hair on my back.
I knew what I looked like, my strawberry blonde hair reached the middle of my back, falling over my face. I was slender, fragile looking and the way I looked made people think I couldn't take care of myself.
I pulled my hair back so I could see without it covering my eyes.
The Alpha now looked at me with what looked like shock.
"He looks like Danica." The Beta gasped.
The Alpha took a step forward and I tensed, "Tara?" I questioned knowing Tara would know exactly what I meant.
"Still have her captive." Tara answered.
"Not another step Alpha, or your precious enforcer dies."
"Enough of this posturing." A man who I hadn't noticed before came forward, almost touching me when the Beta moved and dragged him back in fear. The way he moved made the beta move fast, which made the air carry his scent.
Rain and burning wood. I inhaled sharply and snarled.
"Mate!"
the Beta's eyes widened and then he also sniffed. His pupils dilated and he growled. "Mate!"
