Chapter 43

Amaia pov

I was still within the pack, but I had hidden somewhere around the pack, there was a big tree, which had a small house in it, that was where I had folded myself in, it wasn’t comfortable sitting there with my legs folded but I didn’t mind, at least I was far away from them, that was what matters and they didn’t come after me like I had predicted and it felt nice too.

I stared at the moon, shining just above my head. For some reason, I felt good as if I was being comforted weirdly. The burden had been lifted on my shoulders, what a heavyweight I’ve been carrying. It was good he knew, I won’t have to hide anymore, he would get to understand if he doesn’t, well...

But what if he decides to throw us out of the pack, that won’t be good?

“Why would I throw you out?”

I lifted my head immediately, hitting my head on the tree, I had forgotten I was squatting in there.

Did he just mind link?

Was that how he was able to find me, I doubt that.

“Be careful, come out of there.” He stretches his hands towards me. I shook my head, I wasn’t gonna come out. Why did he come, he didn’t even allow me to spend a night here. Why running here?

“You’ll only hurt yourself, come out. Isn’t the hole too small for you?”

His hands were still stretched out towards me, which I had refused to take. He sighed and squatted.

“Stubborn ain’t you?”

“How did you find me?” I asked, batting my lashes at him.

Surprisingly he chuckled.

“Did you think, this is where you can hide..” he paused and look up into the sky.

“I remember coming here after I recovered and found out I was the alpha. I was confused and scared, how was I gonna take responsibility, and at the same time the feeling of being powerful excites me, this was where I came and gaze at the moon and it kinda comforted me for some reason. You don’t need to come here for comfort anymore, I’ll be your comfort.”

That was true, because it comforted me too, the air around here, the trees, and everything as if I was being watched and comforted.

The moon goddess was here probably. I decided to ignore his last word. How could he be my comfort, does he even know what he’s talking about.

“It was a quick guess where you would be and besides I saw you taking the path down. It was easy to find you. And you should know you can’t hide from me in my pack.”

He reached out his hands again.

“Take my hands and you won’t regret it.”

“Is it a proposal?”

“Call it whatever you want, but just take the hand. Let me help you mate.”

“I can’t have my wolf?”

“It doesn’t mean you won’t get it.”

“What would they say?”

“Who cares, you shouldn’t bother about that, I’ve got you covered. You’re my mate and not theirs, I was told some time ago, that my mate was dead, that I won’t have a mate and then I found you, if only you’d know how happy I had been, I looked everywhere for you. I don’t care if you’ve your wolf or not, what I truly about is that you’re alive. My hands are getting tired.”

I quickly grabbed them when he lessened them a bit. Carefully he pulled me out of the small hole I had hidden. Taking me up in his arms. His hands wrapped around me in a comforting hug. I fitted well into his huge body. And he gladly showed that as he hugged me.

I exhaled.

It felt nice.

“I thought you didn’t want me?”

“You thought I would reject you?”

I nodded. He pulled me back from the hug and stare at my face. I looked away shyly, I couldn’t meet his intense gaze. He held my chin and lift it so I could stare at him. And I did.

“Why would I reject a competent mate like you, you’re strong, beautiful, and charming.”

My cheeks went hot and red, I found myself falling for those words.

Moreover, I was grateful that I wasn’t cast out like that, what would I’ve done. It would’ve been rough and hard for me and the old man.

The old man wasn’t wrong about him then.

“Let me love you green eyes.” He said, staring into my eyes. I blinked with my gaze still on him.

“You don’t have to love me back yet, but just let me do. Allow me to love you.”

What would I say? I didn’t know. I just stare at him with those clueless eyes. His hand left my chin and went up to my neck.

He held my neck and brought his head closer to my face, it was a few inches away from me, and I gulped nervously at our closeness.

“I’ll take the silence as a yes then.”

Before I could say or do anything else, his lips close up on mine in a sweet warm embrace. Taking me aback by it, I didn’t know how to respond because this was my first. So I held his shirt. And let him take charge of my lips as he kissed me.

When he pulled away, which I didn’t want him to. My mouth was still wide open and my hands were still on his shirt.

I pulled him back to me, kissing him just like he did to me the first time. Wrapping my hands around his neck.

He smiled as he kissed me.

“Fast learner I see.”

That was kind of a mockery. He had a mind link but I choose to ignore it. And this moment was a moment I wanted to remember, under the moonlight and the watch of the creators.

“Love me..”

I whispered.
