Chapter 45

We sparred, it wasn’t a gentle one, it was rough as if we were at war with each other and ready to take our lives. He was in his wolf form and I was at my plain self with my dagger. We crashed.

He was on top of me, his claw slashing over my shoulders and at the same instant, my dagger was at his neck. Ready to slit.

He pushed himself off me and shifted back to his human form. Panting heavily. I stare at my shoulder and my tore shirt. I was bleeding, I turned to meet the cold gaze of the Alpha. He didn’t know he would come, Creamy had left because he had something to do and I was left with the tutor who was called Carlos.

I forced myself up, holding my injured shoulder.

“Why did You’ve to hurt her?”

I spun around to find him grabbing Carlos by the collar.

“I’m sorry.” He apologized.

“..but I lost. She got me.” He chuckled. He was glaring at him even when he had his hand in the air. Surrendered.

But zyair wasn’t getting it.

He was quite stubborn.

“I thought you had a meeting.”

“I don’t want her getting hurt in any way, I don’t care how you’re gonna do it. If I see another cut on her body or a bruise. You’ll have to face me then.” He paused.

“Of course Alpha.”

He came to me and held my hands.

“I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to be sorry, I’m fine. You shouldn’t be here if you don’t wanna see me get hurt. It’s training. I’ll get hurt and besides, it wasn’t his fault. You should head back.”

“How can I leave you in this state, you’re bleeding.”

“I’m fine.” He hesitated. He didn’t want to leave, but I wanted him to. I won’t be able to focus if he was here and watching me.

“Go. I’ll be fine. It’s just a small scratch.”

“Should I end it? I don’t want to see you hurt.”

“But he’s helping me. Don’t worry.”

I smiled at him. He sighed before letting go of my hand.

“I’ve never seen a wolf as her. She’s strong, but there’s something I noticed.”

“What did you notice Carlos?”

“You trust me didn’t you Alpha? Isn’t that why you called me here, don’t forget that. Let me handle this. I know she’s your mate. But give us some space.”

“I haven’t forgiven you for hurting her,”

“I’ve already apologized for it.”

Zyair had left, leaving us alone. He would have lingered more if Franco hadn’t come to call him urgently. He didn’t wanna leave.

“Who trained you?”

“My father.”

He nods at me.

“There’s something, conveying your strength. And I’m gonna teach you how you can beat your alpha.”

I laughed. He laughed too.

“Sorry about that.”

I was wondering what kind of a man he was, Creamy had briefed me about him on our way here. That he was one of the strongest wolves and surprisingly he was an alpha of a pack. He didn’t seem like it. I kept me wondering how he was able to bring such a man to teach me. And why would an alpha come here to teach someone like me? Leaving his pack.

“I’m Carlos.”

“Amaia.”

We shake hands.

“We’ve got a lot to learn Amaia.”

“How long?”

“Three days. And just three days, and you’ll see what would happen afterward. That’s if you trust me.”

“I do.”

If Zyair had trusted him enough to bring him here then she does trust him. And was ready to accept the change. And be prepared to face whatever would happen next.

“He likes you a lot. You should know that. You can forget about anything else but don’t forget how much he likes you.”

Why was he telling me that? It only gets me to wonder what he did to bring him here. Where he had gone after he brought her home last night.

“How was it?”

“Exhausting.” I slumped on the bed, I was tired, and my body felt sore. I heard my father's gentle laugh behind me.

“And telling the Alpha about your secret.”

I sat up.

“Never felt so good. Like I could breath.”

“I told you, he’s a good man. How did you feel when you were with him? Is the urge to kill him still there?”

The first time, it was overwhelming. That’s why I couldn’t help it. And had to stab him. The feeling didn’t go away. It was still there in an awful way. Gives me mixed feelings. It was what I had chosen to ignore. I just needed some time.

That few time with him. That I was begging for.

“He’ll protect you, and help you because I won’t be there forever.”

“Don’t even think of leaving me anytime soon.”

“I’ll live till you’re free from the curse. That’s my fate.”

“And if I get free tomorrow, what would happen to you?”

“I’ll be watching you.”

“Father.”

He smiled and held my hands in his. His hands had all gone wrinkled and old. I sniffed.

“You’ve to be strong, I know you’ll and you’ve got a stronger man beside you.”

“But I still need you.”

“Your parents, you’ll get to meet too.”

“I don’t care! I want you there.”

“You seem to have forgotten I’m human.” He smiled and caress my hair.

“I’ll make you some tea. A refreshing tea would help you.”

“You better don’t leave me without a goodbye. I’ll hunt you.”

He laughed. Standing up from the bed. I smiled and lay on the bed. As I lay, a tear dropped off my face.

I only wanted a simple life but it seems the moon goddess wanted otherwise.

I slept off.

“Why did you bring me here?” We were standing on a hill. I was enjoying my sleep when they woke me that the Alpha was waiting for me. I had to hurry, put on my hoodie, and ran out of the house.

“Disappointed?”

“A little.”

The night was a bit cold but felt nice.

Her hands wrapped around my shoulders from behind and we stood there staring at the dark sky. I have a lot of questions but there was no one to answer those questions.

“Are you ready to tell everyone?”

I didn’t know yet. But I couldn’t keep on hiding it. I didn’t want them to know because I don’t know if I would be able to handle it. I hadn’t been able to walk around the pack in daylight except at night.

I was scared, what if they don’t accept me.

“After three days. Then we’ll be to tell everyone.” I answered.

He nods. His hands were still around me, I leaned on his body.

“I couldn’t get enough of you all day, I want to see you every time, I miss you when I can’t see you. And I want to see you every time and everywhere.”

“And I keep wishing these moments would last for a long time.”

That was what I wished for, because the road was rough and uncertainties were ahead of us which we had to face. And I was scared because it would be one of us who would survive and the other would become a tale.

I smiled. But then, I didn’t see his nosy shadow around him. And he wasn’t even the one who called me.

“Where’s Creamy?”

“Had to do something. We’ll get the report tomorrow.”

“On a mission?”

“Hm.”

“On what?”

“Something important.”

Why do I feel he left because of me, what did he do to find out about me?

“Is it me?”

I had the feeling, that it had to do something about me. He didn’t answer me but kissed my neck.

“Trust me.”
