Chapter 54

I had never been as busy as this before. I Ran up and down the pack even before it was dawn. It was the night I have crowned Luna. A wolf was killed and we woke up running to find out who was killing the wolves in the pack.

“This happened before..” Creamy told me. We were still in our nighties. Because it was still early.

We were seated in the Zyair study room.

Zyair was still sleeping, didn’t wanna disturb him because he had been extremely tired and coughed hard. I didn’t want to talk about the heartache I felt through watching him cough out blood. I had spent the night with him, and henceforth I would be staying together. I won’t have to leave him this time when he wasn’t strong enough. He needs me more than ever, even if he keeps pushing me away.

I’ll still go to him, stay with him, take care of him.

And love him.

“..some night ago, the Alpha was called for an emergency. That was because of the wolf that was killed. Just like this.”

He points out.

I was staring at the structure of the wolf on paper. It was a wolf that killed him. There was an enemy within us.

“Then, whoever is killing the wolves is within the pack.”

“Alpha said the same, but when we wanted to start investigating, you know what happened next.”

He fell ill.

That was what happened next and he’s still weak, I was still in the dark, didn’t have a clue about what his illness was all about and no one was willing to tell me.

“Whoever is doing this. Is still gonna kill more wolves in the pack. And even more so this night.”

“He didn’t kill each night, you can’t be so sure it would be this night. It could be tomorrow or the day after”

I shook my head.

“The killer had been hiding long enough, and wants us to find him.”

“You’re sure is a male.”

I nodded. I’d seen the pattern by which the wolves were being killed, the salmon wolves were strong and they had probably put up a fight. It all shows, how they attacked. They won’t have attacked that way if it was a female wolf.

“I’m positive.”

“How are we gonna find him.”

I tapped my fingers on the table, thinking. There has to be a way for it. Who was killing the wolf in the pack and why was he killing the wolf?

“Got any idea?”

I shook my head. He sighed and leaned on the seat.

A knock came through the door and pulled us out of our thoughts. I opened my half-closed eyes.

“Alpha there’s an emergency!” The voice yelled from the door.

I pushed myself up.

“What emergency? Come in!” I yelled. The door opened immediately I said come in and he rushed in like he was being chased.

“Luna!” He bowed.

“What is the emergency?”

“Another of the pack member was killed.”

I jumped up.

“Now?”

“He was found dead. We don’t know when he was killed. But we’d called for the physician.”

I palmed my forehead.

“Where’s Franco?”

“He’s talking to the warriors. To take guard in protecting the members.” He’d fallen on his knees.

“We need to do something Luna.”

“How long has this been going on?” I asked. Walking up to meet him.

“Over a week,” Creamy answered.

“When it first happened we didn’t talk much about it. But then he happened and then happened again.”

I paced in front of them. We’ve to do something, this night. We’ve to fish him out.

Damn!

I was pissed off.

If I gonna him.

I clutched my fist.

“We need to go out, I don’t think I can wait anymore.”

Creamy stood up from the chair he was seating on.

“What are you gonna do?”

“Look for him myself.”

“You won’t go..” We spun our heads around to find Zyair by the door. He held the door, he was on his robe. His eyes were a bit tired.

Our eyes went to him.

“Alpha.”

“Go tell Franco to tighten the borders, some warriors should parole till the morning, and some of them should search every house. Go tell him.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“Hurry now. We can’t lose more wolves when we’re about to fight a war. We ain’t even enough and we’re letting them die.”

He hurried out of the study room to deliver the message he had heard from him.

I walked to him and tried to help him so he could walk over to where the seat was and have his seat but he declined my help.

He sat down.

“You should be resting..”

“You didn’t just say you were gonna go look for him did you?”

“I couldn’t just sit back.”

“You enjoy putting yourself at risk.”

“I don’t think it could be risky for me, you won’t even let me finish. Why do you keep trying to caution me like I don’t know what I’m doing? You talked about trust, do you don’t even trust me!” I stressed. Hitting my balled fist on my palm.

“You don’t trust me enough to handle situations like this.”

“Calm down Amaia.”

I huffed and turned my back against them.

“I won’t sit back, and I won’t let you go either.”

He didn’t reply to me. He simply ignored me and had his head down on the table and scribbled whatever was on the paper.

I bite my lips and stare at him.

This attitude from him was all worse. It wasn’t what I expected.

At some point, I wanted to give up. But I couldn’t.

“I told you to leave, why didn’t you leave.” He didn’t even look up when he was talking to me. I fight back the tears. I won’t make a fool of myself.

“You shouldn’t stay with me, take your stuff and leave after we’re done here.”

“Why did you accept, why didn’t you say from the start that you won’t accept me for me.” My eyes were glistening.

“I feel I shouldn’t be here.” Creamy whispered.

He looked up at me and I held his gaze.

“You regret it now?”
