Chapter 1: Going to a diferent world

Luke was an ordinary, affluent young man living in Shanghai, China. His parents were successful investors, and their family fortune was just shy of nine figures. Currently, he was studying in his third year at a prestigious university in Melbourne, Australia. Although his parents were strict and constantly advised him to remain low-key, Luke often ignored their warnings. He would frequently gather his friends for nights of revelry at bars, nightclubs, and other similar establishments.

Despite his comfortable lifestyle, Luke was not content. His family's wealth paled in comparison to that of the billionaires he envied, who possessed private jets and yachts. Even though his parents had bought him extravagant mansions in both Shanghai and Melbourne, he couldn't shake his jealousy. To make matters worse, he was still single, despite his good looks and height of 180 cm. Opportunities for romance just never seemed to come his way.

In June 2022, while on summer break from his Australian university, Luke returned to Shanghai to relax. One day, he received an unexpected package containing a book on lucid dreaming. Sceptical but curious, he began to read. Although he found the book dull, he decided to give it a chance since his friends were still in school and he had time to spare.

Luke became intrigued by the idea of trying out the techniques he read about, so he studied the book carefully and attempted to put its teachings into practice during his sleep. Lucid dreaming, as described in the book, would allow him to experience vivid dreams that felt almost real, with the ability to remember them clearly upon waking.

That night, Luke lay in bed, recalling the lucid dreaming instructions before drifting off to sleep. Unfortunately, he didn't experience any dreams, and the following morning began like any other day.

Bored and restless at home, Luke decided to visit a shopping mall. While there, he noticed an advertisement that left him dumbstruck: a Porsche for only 50 dollars? He checked his wallet and saw he still had 500,000 dollars. Luke ventured further into the mall, only to find an Armani suit priced at a mere 2 dollars, a massive reduction from its 2,000-dollar price tag just days earlier. Was this due to a sudden economic collapse?

It was then that Luke realised he might have unintentionally travelled to a parallel universe through his lucid dreaming attempt the previous night. Some theories suggested that dreams could be gateways to alternate realities. Puzzled, he wondered if his failed attempt at lucid dreaming had somehow transported his consciousness to this new world with drastically different prices.

Panicking, Luke hurried back home, his forehead beaded with sweat, trying to regain his composure.
