There Seems To Be Tension In The Air

Dom arrived back at the Town Centre and quickly ran up towards his bedroom on the third floor, pulling open his Personal Chest and looking at the rewards within. Beside his remaining rewards that he hadn't used such as his White Invitation Letter, Green Cube for the Mine and his Golden Token laid a couple of new items.

Green Cube - Random Building Spawner

White Cube – Random Resource Spawner

There was also a third cube, a new one that he hadn't seen before that was blue in colour. Dom looked at the Blue Cube and asked the system to explain what it was.

[Blue Cube - Elite Military Spawner - Spawns an Elite Military Unit from your current Warrior Hall. If you have multiple Warrior Halls, you can choose which Warrior Hall to spawn it from]

Dom grabbed the three cubes and headed back downstairs, passing many people that had gathered in the Town Centre to prepare simple meals that could be eaten over the next few days if the town had to reduce the available manpower for defences. Dom waved at a few of the Villagers who were busy and headed outside where Gan Ning and his guards where waiting for him.

"What did you get?" Gan Ning asked as they headed back in the direction of the Military District.

"A Green Cube and a White Cube." Dom replied, "As well as a Blue Cube."

"A Blue Cube?" Gan Ning asked as they slowly approached the Military District, watching as more materials were moved around.

"Yes, It's an Elite Unit spawner, we can use it with the Warriors Halls to spawn an elite unit." Dom replied, "I just need to decide which Warriors Hall to use it on!"

"That's a very helpful item right now!" Gan Ning replied with a grin, "See you should listen to me more often!"

"Definitely, just don't tell Lucius I forgot to get more quests." Dom replied seriously, to which Gan Ning laughed.

"So what are we using first?" Gan Ning asked as they arrived, stood outside the Heroes Hall in the centre of the district.

"Let's use the Green Cube first, and hope we get a new Warrior type, as right now more warriors is the most important." Dom stated, "System, please use the Green Cube."

[Rolling for Random Building....Building Selected....Barracks]

Suddenly a large silver wooden structure appeared behind the Heroes Hall, it was long and two stories high, full of small windows that dotted both sides of it. Dom was hopeful for another Warriors Hall, and was a bit disappointed that it wasn't.

"System, show stats." Dom asked.

[Riverside Barracks

Barracks Grade - S

Barracks Level - 1

Building Perks - "Well Rested - All Warriors are better rested, increasing their efficiency"

The Barracks of Riverside will give comfortable housing for up to five hundred Warriors. Allowing them to eat and rest in a comfortable and safe environment. Any Warriors can be placed here based on the Lord and Commanders of Riverside's wishes.]

"What is that?" Gan Ning asked as he looked at the large building that had just appeared, expecting some Warriors to appear out of the large front doors

"A Barracks." Dom groaned, happy with what he had received, but wishing it was something he had received another day, and not when they possibly had a battle looming.

"That's great news Lord!" Gregorios stated from the side, "The Warriors Hall was getting a bit cramped, it's great if we can move some people out and put them somewhere else!"

"You just want to get rid of Homer and his horrendous snoring!" Trojan laughed from the other side.

"Shut it, it's Hector not me!" Homer argued back, looking at his bunk mate who just grunted in response.

"It's not what we needed, but it's a good building regardless." Gan Ning said, "Now we just need to decide which building to use the Blue Cube on.

"Well, as the enemy is within the forest, I will rule out the Horse Archers." Dom replied. "So it's either the Hoplites or the Legionaries."

"Should we get some of the others to help make a decision?" Gan Ning asked back, whilst he also thought about it.

"No, Crassus is at the edge and everyone else is busy." Dom replied, before turning to Gregorios and the other guards, "We have the Spartans who are pretty elite already from the Hoplite Heroes Hall, so what other elite units could there be?"

"Well, there is the Sacred Band from Thebes." Gregorios replied, "They are a strange bunch though, with some strange traditions, but they are an interesting bunch."

"There are also some of the individual kingdoms elite guards as well." Trojan added, "We could potentially get an elite unit from the Trojan wars!"

"You are only saying that because of your name." Gregorios replied, "But it is possible."

Dom looked towards the Hoplite Warriors Hall and thought about it for a few seconds. He then turned and looked towards the Legionary Warriors Hall.

"The other option is the Legionaries." Dom stated, "We currently have the Legionnaires spawning from the Ninth Legion, I'm not sure what elite's they would have had."

"I have been speaking with Crassus about the make up of the Legions, as these were after Lucius's time." Gan Ning stated, "There were Elite Cavalry Units assigned most of the Legions and they often also had an auxiliary unit attached to them."

"We don't need more Cavalry right now, but an auxiliary unit may be good. Did he mention what there was?" Dom asked, "I've done a bit of research, but there is very little available on the Ninth Legion."

"A variety, archers, slingers, warriors and hoplite types." Gan Ning replied, "It would be a bit of a lucky draw, but I think it's a better option than Hoplites."

"What do you mean by that sir?" Gregorios asked, "I thought we were friends!"

"Your massive spears are unwieldy in the forests, so you will most likely have to use your swords unless we are in an open location." Gan Ning replied honestly, "A variety of unit's would be ideal right now."

"You echo my thoughts." Dom replied, "System, please use the Blue Cube on the Ninth Legion Warriors Hall."

[Using Blue Cube....Rolling for relevant Elite Unit....Unit chosen....Early Roman Empire Praetorian Guard]

Suddenly the doors of the Warriors Hall opened and Heavily armoured Warrior after Heavily armoured Warrior marched out on to the gathering area in front. The trail of Warriors continued as they got themselves in to a tight formation, as their metallic armour shone in the hot sun. They wore layered iron armour, and held large red shields, similar to the other Legionaries, in their arms. They held a Pilum in their hands, whilst at their waist was their trusty gladius. Each warrior had a plumed helmet and they all had stern faces as they looked at the small group of Dom, Gan Ning and the guards watching them.

Soon the group stopped appearing and stood sternly in their formation. At the front of them stood three men, all of which held a wooden cane rather than a Pilum. The leader of the three's crest was longer than the others and was turned to the side, rather than face on. He stamped his foot on the ground loudly, which was followed by the warriors in front of him.

"Centurion Septimius of the 7th Century of the 2nd Cohort of the Praetorian Guard at your service my Lord." The leader Centurion Septimius bellowed loudly, stamping his food on the ground again. "We are all former members of the Ninth, and have heard that they are starting a new life in a new Kingdom. We have come to join them."

"We are glad to have you!" Dom replied seriously, well aware of the might of the Praetorian Guard of Ancient Rome. These were the Warriors that guarded Emperors, and in some instances even chose who the next Emperor was going to be. Originally they were the mightiest Legionaries from across the Roman Empire, who were promoted to the Legion as a reward for their merits and performance. However, in some generations the Legion became slowly corrupt, working more for the money of the richest, rather than for the good of the Emperor they were employed by. Dom hoped that those in front of him were the former, not the latter.

"There seems to be tension in the air." Septimius asked seriously, "Is there anything we can help with?"

"You have arrived at a fortuitous time for us, but possibly not for yourself." Dom replied honestly, "We have an unknown enemy that we are currently trying to locate, we are unaware of their numbers or their position, only that if it is who we think it is, we are in for a hard time."

"We do not balk at who ever our foe is." Septimius responded, "We were the greatest warriors of the Roman Empire, and we will now be the greatest warriors of Riverside!"

The Legionaries behind him all banged the backs of their fists in to their shields in response, agreeing with their leader and ready to fight to the death for their new home.

"I wish we had time to settle you, but please can you follow Commander Gan Ning here to front lines, where he can brief you and update our other commanders of your arrival." Dom said, turning to Gan Ning and giving him a gentle nod. The Praetorians responded with a stamp, before moving in to a marching formation and following Gan Ning at a steady pace, each foot in time with the person stood beside them.

Dom turned and looked at his guards, seeing that they all had their mouths open in awe at the Warriors that were now slowly marching away from them.

"Do you think Pullo can train us to be like them?" Homer asked, causing the others to chuckle, bar Hector who had a more serious expression.

"I doubt it." Gregorios laughed, "I think they will even give Leonidas and the other Spartans a run for their money."

"Now that is a fight I'd like to see." Trojan replied.

Dom looked in his hands and saw that he only had the White Resource Cube left, he decided to follow the marching Praetorians and spawn what ever resource he had near the Lumber Camp, hoping that it would be something that could be used in their military campaign.

They soon reached the Camp, where Dom noticed Crassus was staring at the approaching Praetorians with his mouth agape, beside him was stood Shang Yang who had appeared from what ever tasks he had been completing throughout the day, Dom was surprised that he had missed him on his travels across the Town.

"System, please use the White Cube." Dom asked.

[Rolling for resource....Resource selected based on current needs....White Stone]

Suddenly, between the Lumber Camp and the Inner Wall that was being built, another small hill of white stone appeared, causing all of those around to jump in surprise.

Dom thought that more white stone was good, meaning they could get more of the Wall built without having to mine for the resource themselves. He was grateful for the few new cubes he had gained, as the white stone and the Praetorians were useful in the immediate. He looked at the sky and saw that the sun was slowly moving across, his time before logging out quickly shrinking.

"I wonder when Tomoe will return with an update." Dom said quietly to himself, not realising he had said it out loud.

"Soon Lord Lazarus." Gregorios replied reassuringly.
