Licheng picked up peonies for his younger sister from the royal garden. He made a bouquet of those flowers and headed to see Princess Ning.
"Why is the First Brother here?" Princess Ning angrily spoke and looked at her handmaiden. "Tell the First Brother I do not desire to speak to him," she said, not looking at Licheng.
"Your brother will stand here until you do not speak with him," Licheng pronounced. "I missed you," he said.
"The First Brother is lying," Su Ning muttered and asked her handmaiden why she was not sending Prince Licheng away.
"Because she cannot speak up before me," Licheng said and asked the handmaiden to leave them alone. Su Ning decided to leave too when Licheng stood before her.
"My lovely sister, look what I have brought for you." Licheng forwarded the bouquet of peonies to her. "Forgive your first brother," he said.
"Never!" Su Ning said and threw the bouquet away. "I hate Brother Licheng," she pronounced and ran out of the chamber.
Licheng had not expected this kind of reaction from his sister. But he had done wrong to her. Su Ning was attached to him among the three brothers. He understood her behavior and her anguish toward him. Licheng went to pick up the bouquet when he heard the servant's voice.
"Your Royal Highness, I will do it," she almost got on her knees to pick the flowers which got separated from the bouquet.
"No. I will do it," Licheng said and asked her to go behind Princess Ning.
"Miss Fei has gone after Princess Ning, Your Royal Highness," the servant replied.
Licheng didn't speak and silently put the flowers into the bouquet. He stood up and placed it inside the porcelain flower vase. He took a few steps back before turning around and then walking away.
When he reached his manor, the first thing he asked Eunuch Jize about was Xiana.
"Princess Xiana is sleeping, Your Royal Highness," Eunuch Jize answered.
Licheng hummed and asked him where Xiana slept. The maidservant on Eunuch Jize's order showed the room to Licheng where Xiana was resting.
"You both can leave," Licheng told them. Eunuch Jize and the maidservant bowed and left Licheng's sight. After they left, Licheng walked into the room.
Xiana was in a deep sleep. The quilt was on the floor while she was on the bed with her back toward Licheng. He called out her name. However, she didn't respond to him. Unlike the last day, he didn't throw water over her face. He walked to the other side of the bed and sat on the mattress.
"Xiana, you should wake up," Licheng shook her arm lightly.
"Umm…mmm." She furrowed her brows together and moved his hand away from her shoulder. Licheng didn't want to put more effort into waking her up, so he brushed the hair off her forehead and flicked his fingers at the center of her forehead.
"Ahhh!" Xiana screamed and pried open her eyes.
She pressed her eyes shut and rubbed her forehead. "Why are you like this?" Xiana sat on the bed. "Don't you know the word 'gentle'?" She muttered and glared at him.
"You told me you are strong, so such a gentle flick will not harm you," Licheng said while smiling. He stood up when Xiana grasped his wrist and pulled him down.
Licheng fell to the mattress while Xiana hovered over him. "Now, I will show you how much it hurts," Xiana pronounced and flicked her fingers at the center of his forehead.
Licheng's eyes widened because of the pain and he whined.
"Imagine someone doing this to you in your sleep!" Xiana said and decided to give him a second flick when Licheng caught her wrist. She tried to release her wrist from his grip, but it was in vain.
"Leave me," Xiana said while twisting her wrist.
The next second, she was flipped on the mattress while Licheng got above her. "I allowed you to do the first flick only," he said. "Next time, if you don't wake up on the time, I will throw a bucket full of water on you," he asserted.
"I don't go easy on bullies. I will throw you into the mud if you do that," Xiana said with a stern tone. She saw he was slightly annoyed at her and it encouraged her to irk him more.
"You are forgetting Princess, you are my servant," Licheng stated.
"A servant, who will never listen to you," Xiana said and grabbed him by the robe. She fisted her palm on his fabric and asked him to let go of her hand. "Now, leave me before I beat you into a pulp," she said.
Licheng chuckled and asked her to watch her tongue. He let go of her wrist and yanked her hand from his robe. He stood up and looked at Xiana, who also got down from the bed and stood proudly in front of him.
"I will not let you sleep in peace, Licheng. You disturbed me in my sleep. Xiana doesn't forgive those who disturb her sleep," she pronounced.
"We will see that," Licheng stated.
"Are you challenging me?" Xiana asked him.
"Yes, I am," Licheng affirmed. "You need to do all the work in my manor. Also, I am thinking you do not need this comfortable bed to sleep in anymore. I thought to give you some privileges, but now I have second thoughts," he stated.
"Do you think I will not be able to survive in the servant's quarter?" She questioned him.
"How can you live like a servant, Xiana? Since you are a princess, I decided to give you some special perks," he asserted.
"Who needs special perks from you?!" Xiana blurted out. "Don't act as if you are the kindest man alive. I have not forgotten how you broke off my marriage and forced me to come here. I understand you helped me and I have to return that favor. I will live in the servants' quarters. I do not need any more favors from a person like you."
In anger, Xiana said aloud a lot of things that she definitely was going to regret later. Such a comfort, she would not receive in the servants' quarter.
"Fine. From now onward, you will live in the servants' quarter. Don't run to me whining about your state," Licheng said with a smile.
"It is easy to provoke you, Princess," Licheng remarked. It was a small punishment to Xiana, who had already started dancing above his head.
