38. Rapunzel

The smile on my face as the gates opened and the car drove out of the compound was hard to wipe off. I didn't know where we were going but anywhere was better than that depressing castle.

I rolled down the windows and smiled as the wind kissed my face. The sun rays were soft since the sun was setting but I had missed the warmth.

" Why don't you vampires cower in the sun? " I asked, suddenly curious as to why they defied fiction.

" There's a ritual that is done to ensure the sun does not affect us, " Zeus answered.

I nodded my head in understanding even though he couldn't see me. I looked back out the window, appreciating the view.

I looked around the area carefully to catch the bearing of where we were but all of it looked unfamiliar. That and the fact that there were trees and cliffs everywhere.
