The Rescue

A Fae female dashed out of her home, clutching her child to her chest, her frantic screams piercing the air as she fled from a pack of goblins.

The twisted green creatures, their skin mottled and leathery, let out high-pitched crackles as they gained on her, their long, spindly limbs propelling them with disturbing speed.

Her heart pounded in her chest as panic surged through her. She could barely focus on where she was going, the only thought running through her mind was escape.

Her husband had died only moments ago, struck down in a desperate attempt to hold off the monsters when they first breached the city. He had told her to hide, and she had done so, retreating into a secret room behind a wardrobe in their small home. She had clutched her child tightly, trying to stay as quiet as possible, hoping the creatures would pass by.
