Lingering questions

Adela and Egon stayed beside the graves until dawn, seated on their cloaks amid the grass with no inclination to curtail their visit.

His conversation revolved predominantly around Noctavian as he persistently extolled the brilliance of his son to his parents. Adela found immense joy in witnessing genuine smiles on his face while he shared those stories, and what started as a somber encounter evolved into a warm, therapeutic experience.

She allowed her hand to meander through the grass. The glow extended from her touch spread around her husband and reached all the way to the trees that served as a natural fence around the graves. It had been some time since her human vision had returned with the break of dawn, and while both of them were thankful for the visit, the transition to heading home felt natural as they stood to their feet and prepared to leave.

"Let's come back soon," he said with calm eyes, to which she nodded.
