Chapter 9: Mech Fusion

On the peculiar ground of the test, two people were standing opposite to each other along with their Mechs. One was our dear and near Ryan while the other was his challenger.

Both of their eyes were on each other's bodies. Both of them were seriously looking at every muscle of the other to predict the attack beforehand.

"Mech Fusion!" Both of them shouted at the same time.

Mech Fusion was a skill available to every Mech owner. This allowed him/her to fuse with his/her Mech. In a match, you can either go alone while having your Mech by your side or fuse with it and have a 1 Vs 1 match.

As soon as Ryan and the challenger shouted, their respective Mechs came near them and started to disappear into colorful whisps and entered their bodies.

Within a few seconds, this process was completed. Now, both of them were looking different from their human forms. They were like a human with mechanical body parts.

Ryan's eyes had completely turned green. He had a gun in his hand while his body was covered with metal armor. His challenger also had the armor but there weren't any guns as his weapon.

Only high-leveled (bloodline) Mech would have its weapon which can be changed as per the user's will.

Ryan decided to take the charge. He fired a bullet at Gan. Gan saw through this and dodged the bullet by rolling into the ground. Gan didn't let any second go to waste and fired a wind blade directly at Ryan. Ryan wasn't able to dodge it due to his lack of experience. Despite this, this attack didn't have the intended effect due to his hard armor.

(A/N: Gan is the challenger's name. Well, just a makeshift one.)

Gan didn't let the surprise cloud his judgment and started firing wind blades continuously. Ryan dodged most of them while he got hit at the first ones. As time passed, he became aware of his body's reaction speed and dodged accordingly.

Gan came to an abrupt halt after firing so many wind blades. Ryan didn't let this opportunity go. He fired a bullet which was red due to the fire Mana that was coated in it.

This bullet traveled faster than the previous one. Gan felt his danger sense warn him as he quickly rolled to the side. Despite the rolling try, the bullet got to hit his armor just a few centimeters apart from his chest.

Gan vomited some blood due to the internal injuries he suffered due to the fire Mana in the bullet. This fire Mana was wreaking havoc inside his body and was on the way to his heart.

Ryan fired another fire Mana bullet toward Gan's chest to knock him about. But this time, Gan was ready for this. He jumped to the side and fired a dozen of wind blades at Ryan blocking any way to escape.

Ryan didn't see this coming. He was hit with a flurry of wind blades from all sides. Most of the damage was blocked by his armor. Despite this, his arms weren't fully covered by it. So, there were numerous cuts and bruises there.

He also suffered internal injuries due to the bland force of the wind blades that the armor can't block. He too vomited a mouthful of blood and looked at Gan with battle-hungry eyes.

Gan followed up his attack with a wind slash. Wind slash is different from wind blade. While a wind blade is like a small, concentrated wind, the wind slash is longer compared to the wind blade and thus covers some more area.

When Gan's wind slash was just a second away from Ryan, he did something unbelievable. He vanished from his place and reappeared a meter away from his previous position and so the wind slash hit empty air.

Gan was astonished at the sudden development. He didn't get how Ryan vanished all of a sudden and escaped his attack. But when he looked at Ryan, he smiled inwardly as Ryan was panting after using his 'vanish' technique.

The technique used by Ryan was a movement technique Sarah had taught him. She had warned him not to use too much as his body isn't fully adapted to this technique. He can only use it thrice and any more would leave him in extreme danger.

Ryan fired dozens of fire bullets at Gan who dodged most of them while some of them hit his arms and blood was spilling out from the wounds. He didn't even mind those wounds and continued to reduce the distance between him and Ryan and fired a dozen of wind blades and wind slashes.

Ryan again used his movement technique. Gan looked at his surroundings trying to judge his next appearing position. He looked everywhere within his eyesight but, he wasn't able to spot a speck of Ryan.

Just as he was going to turn around to see if Ryan was there, he was alarmed! A cold blade was grazing his neck and the person holding it was none other than Ryan.

Ryan had used his technique to escape Gan's attack and then again used to get near Gan without him noticing. Due to the full usage of this technique, he was panting heavily and out of breath.

Gan raised his hand in the air and admitted his defeat as soon as he sensed the cold blade on his neck. Moreover, his whole body was aching as his adrenaline already went down.

Ryan also put down his blade and sat down in the middle of the ground tiredly.

*Clap* *clap!* *CLAP!*

"You did well, kiddo. It was expected from a person having the bloodline. From your records, it's just two days since you awakened your Mech and you even learned movement technique. You are worthy to be a genius!" An old man said as he was walking towards the tired Ryan.

Ryan canceled his Mech Fusion and Sarah appeared beside him. She looked at him worried due to his current condition.
