Clutching her palm into a tight fist, Julianna gulped a mouth full of saliva before she slowly turned to face her stepmother Silveira. She stood there with her hands crossed over her chest while her eyed emotionlessly glared at her
"Y-Yes Mother" she answered almost stuttering her words.
They say only a woman can understand a woman but for Julianna, it was just a myth. Because ever since Silveira came to this house along with her daughter, they both treated her like trash.
Silveira observed the girl from head to toe and smirked. "Now I understand why you were late" shaking her head in disbelief she dropped her hand and walked towards her.
Lifting her chin, she made her look straight into her eyes and asked," What did you do to upset your sister?" there was a hint of annoyance in her voice just like her daughter Remy who was as cruel as her or vice versa.
Julianna would've answered her back but she couldn't, knowing how miserable they would make her stay in her own house.
Her father Arthur James married Silveira out of courtesy after her mother's sudden demise but who would've thought her nanny would turn out to be such a cunning lady?
Her personality would change when her father would return after his business trip but once he was gone, they would leave no chance to torture her. Both of them found pleasure in hurting her.
Silveira would use her words while her daughter would use severe actions on her just so they could vent their anger.
"I-I didn't do anything Mother" Julianna spoke as she couldn't tolerate her deadpan eyes. She knew if she kept her lips sealed, she would end up punishing her for that.
"Then how did you get this," she said pointing to the ankle brace.
Julianna felt her entire body turning cold. This was the reason why she was trying to sneak into her room without making any sound.
After whatever happened in the college, Julianna had expected this outcome. This was the only reason why she couldn't fight her sister Remy. She knew it wouldn't go well with the two.
"Why are you asking her mom? It's me who did that to her" Remy spoke as she approached the two and stood in front of them.
Her eyes looked at Julianna with pure hate but she managed to conceal them a little as she had a few things to discuss with her and it would only happen when her mother would let her go.
Silveira eyed her daughter who looked so unbothered after she hurt Julianna. Though they both enjoy torturing her but there was always a limit and today, Remy crossed it.
Letting go of Julianna's chin, Silveira turned to her daughter and asked," How many times I have warned you, Remy? You can't physically hurt her. What if your father comes to learn about it"
Silveira loved Arthur as he provided her with a lavishing life and in return, he only asked her one thing and that was to give his daughter a mother's love. That time she agreed with him as she was blinded by his wealth but when he was gone, she would forget all her kindness.
Though she didn't like his daughter Julianna as she stood like a threat to them yet she couldn't come to hurt her physically worrying about what if one day she spilled their wrongdoing in front of her father and he happens to believe her.
Remy rolled her eyes lazily as she brushed off her mother's words and reached out her hand toward Julianna before she dragged her into her room.
Slamming the door shut, Remy forcefully pushed Julianna until she stumbled onto her feet, enduring the pain. "Ah..."
"What was that in the classroom? Why didn't you stop that girl from talking about us" Remy questioned.
They had been bullying the students for so long but never once had a student been this brave to stand against them. They always had everything under control but today with Ariana spilling the beans about them, she feared their secret would be soon out.
Julianna could sense the fear in her voice. How she wished it was her who would've exposed her in front of Professor Donovan, but she couldn't her lips were sealed.
Lifting her head she met her eyes which were glaring at her curiously and couldn't stop herself from smiling. This was the first time she had seen Remy this worried, though she managed to seal it from her but deep down she was scared.
"Why, are you scared that the authority would take strict actions against on you once they caught hold of you" Julianna looked at her with pity.
"You..." gnashing her teeth furiously, Remy was about to push Julianna when the door to her flung open and Silveira walked in.
"Remy stops...." reaching to them she stopped her daughter from further hurting her. She had already done enough by spraining her leg but no anymore.
Arthur was soon going to return from his business trip and before that, she had to treat his daughter making her look normal or else it wouldn't take him to sense something unusual.
Arthur loved his daughter way more than anything else and if he happens to find that they had been treating Julianna wrongly then he wouldn't think twice before eliminating them.
Having a life of a beggar was the last thing she wanted.
Wasting no time, she grab hold of Remy's arms and dragged her forcefully out of Julianna's room.
"Mom.. leave me.. leave me, Mom..."
Thud.
The loud bang of the door startled Julianna as she looked at the closed door without blinking her eyes.
Silveira kept dragging Remy until they reached her room and entered inside. "What's wrong with you Mom... why did you stop me" pulling her hand out from her mother's hold Remy yelled angrily.
Her chest heaved up and down as she couldn't contain her displeasure. She wanted to punish Julianna for mocking her but her mother ruined everything.
"Are you out of your mind Remy? How many times should I tell you to stop your madness? Just because you enjoy torturing her doesn't mean you can go to any extreme" Silveira roared her lungs out entirely silencing Remy.
Glaring at her mother furiously Remy huffed looking away. She just wanted to show Julianna her place because if she doesn't then she would get the liberty to look down on her.
"I know what is bothering you, Remy," Silveira's words snapped her eyes on her as she looked at her in disbelief.
"How did you..." Remy couldn't finish her words when Silveira butted in.
"I know everything that is happening around Orchid and I also know the real cause isn't Julianna but the girl whom she is friends with"
