Was James in on it? Maybe that was how he got his money? She never really knew about his source of income ever since he graduated from the university. it's not like she ever bothered to ask him. She always assumed it was money from his family. After all, he came from a wealthy family... What if the cult was a family one? There must be such things existing... A whole lot of things did happen in secret and she was glad she knew about none of them. But would that continue to remain?
"What are you doing in there?" James was already in front of the toilet door knocking. He had to go to the toilet too.
Linda was already panicking. It seemed as if something evil was already taking place. Or was she overreacting? There's no possible way James would do that to her. But how much can she say that she knows the guy? Does anyone really know anyone or even themselves? And she just watched a freak show!!! Something totally crazy!!
"yeah... U..uh...uhm..." She couldn't form words and her heart was beating like crazy she thought they were going to explode. Her lower limbs felt heavy as she dragged them towards the door "I'm done" she said after opening the door.
When she opened the door James could then hear all the chaos coming from outside. It seemed as though the screams grew louder with each passing time. Linda looked at him with a question in her eyes. But he wasn't interested in what her expression was trying to say because they were overshadowed by his questions.
"What the hell is going on here?!" He said as he walked towards the window.
Two men were on the floor with one crouched above the other one... The huge man lay flat on the ground trying to fight off the little man on him.
"What in the name of..." He did not finish his statement and proceeded to cover his mouth with his hands. "Cannibals?" He asked not expecting any answer in return.
Linda saw the burning intensity in his eyes. He reeked of "getting involved in a business that wasn't his" Something that could get him hurt or worse; killed.
"No. No. Don't think of that! That's not the wise thing to do! These people could be cultists!! They're going to hurt you" She was blocking the entrance to the toilet knowing fully well that she didn't present as a formidable obstacle and that he could easily shove her to the side and continue his journey of foolishness.
"I have to do something," He said with all the muscles in his body itching for action. He'd tell her sometimes of how he saved many old and young people's things from being stolen away from them by chasing the thieves down... She always thought he was lucky to have not experienced armed criminals. But she did think that whatever luck he had might not work this time.
"I don't know what the big guy did but it's best if we just waited for outside to be bright for them to sort it out"
"Sort what out? That psycho would kill that guy if someone doesn't step in "
Speaking of the "someone", where was everyone else? Screams were heard but only those two were in sight. What about the security guards? Where were they?
"That someone shouldn't be you," she said and then hugged him. A hug? Of what use was a hug in that chaos? It was an odd move and James responded by moving backward.
"You help people in need of it and don't turn your back on them," He said as he moved.
He didn't look like a hero at all but instead looked like an annoying brat to her. Why was he being difficult?
She started at his back wondering what to do to keep him from joining in the commotion.
"If you go out I'm not going to open this door for you!!" she screamed with all of her body shaking in fear.
He didn't turn back to look at her. To him, whatever shittiness that was going on out there needed an extra hand to sort it out.
He wasn't doubting that it wasn't something one or two blows to the face couldn't fix. Not until he met the craziness waiting for him in the long corridor.
