These Monsters Are Tricky

Archer watched Larka break down, but she explained. ''There's no excuse for what I did. I want to prove I can help even if you don't forgive me.''

He nodded in understanding, his expression firm but measured. Turning toward the window, he caught sight of Mia, who was fussing over a smiling Sia. With a sigh, he spoke, his voice steady.

''Work with them,'' he said, his tone resolute. ''Show me you're sorry by helping grandmother with the kingdom's finances. But make no mistake, if you try anything dodgy, you'll face the same punishment as anyone else.''

When Larka heard this, she quickly nodded and spoke cheerfully. ''I won't let you down, I promise.''

Archer nodded before warning. ''This doesn't mean you're forgiven. You'll always be looking in from the outside when it comes to my life but I'm sick of holding onto this hate for my mother all these years.''
