Chapter 24: Past memories (5)

While the elven rangers were doing their battles exceptionally well, Lireesa chased over the three assassins. Apart from eliminating the most threatening enemies, she was also acting as a form of revenge. She would probably never be able to forgive herself if her subordinates died under her watch. These assassins were moving slower due to their injuries. Not to mention their stealth form required their movement to be slow. Recognizing that stealth was no used to confuse the eyes of Lireesa Windrunner, they quickly withdrew from their stealth and began to dash for their dear lives. They still thought another two high-level were also after them.

Lireesa seemed to like having to single out against 3 trolls at the same rank as her. This time was different from previous time. Instead of running and harassing her chasers, Lireesa completely stomped them in terms of momentum. The three decided to run separately, which completely threw Lireesa off-guard. She chose one of them and continued her pursuit. She would release a single arrow from time to time to check the state of her prey. Because she didn't want to waste the arrows when her opponent could still effectively block or dodge her attack.

"Don't you like chasing my friends," Lireesa taunted. her breath not changing the slightest. It was as if the whole marathon was a breeze for her. "Why like a dog now? Huh, you should wag your tail. Maybe I'll be happy enough to let you go."

The troll in front of her didn't reply nor showed sign of hearing her speech. Unseen to her eyes, he was gritting his teeth and veins popped up on his forehead, showing the level of anger controlled by this assassin. He really wanted to disappear and slashed her straight to death from behind. Suddenly, Lireesa appeared to notice anomalies around her and immediately stopped. Because she was solely chasing the guy in front and her concentration was full on running and the prey. Luckily, she still always paid attention what was ahead of her. There was no need to continue chasing.

Exactly as she thought, the prey now turned around leisurely and walked back slowly toward her and there were distortions beside him. Two trolls came out of them. They were waiting for her to enter their trap but plan had to change. Rotating the daggers in their arms, they swaggered towards her. At first, the assassins thought she wasn't alone, and her reinforcements were nearby following her. However, after they separated and noticed no one other than Lireesa had followed them, they quickly decided to kill her. They pondered whether the high-level ranger in front would change her face and showed fear, but instead saw her smirk. Her confidence never wavered even if she was outnumbered.

"Ahh, my cuties," said Lireesa with her right hands taking out three arrows in preparation. "Now, you three even joined together to wag your tails to satisfy your master. Huh!" If Ella was next to her at the moment, she would surely be beaten and given lectures until she relented on her behaviors. The situation wasn't actually too bad for her. First, she wasn't surrounded and if she felt her momentum weaker than them, she could instantly retreat. Second, her opponents all had suffered some injuries to an extent. Even though, trolls recovered very quickly, the energy wasted during their healing couldn't be recharged unless they took a respite.

Noting her momentum went undiminished and even oppressed them, they became cautious. These troll assassins were holding out fire in their stomach and needed a place to vent, so one of them spoke, "Believe me, woman. When we fight, I can assure you, you'll be captured alive. You won't even have a chance to commit suicide. Our torture may be primitive; you will be eaten by us bit by bit and we're professionals. You won't even die due to blood lost. Yes, many other elves were just like you but in the end only their whine sang in our ears."

Lireesa knew what elves would suffer when they were captured. That was also the reason why Quel'Thalas had a life-and-death feud with troll tribes. Peace was impossible, especially this barbaric and cannibalistic race. To their threat, she just sneered, "It depends on whether you've the ability to even win the fight with me. You, three together, especially little dogs who wagged their tails just 15 minutes ago. It's impossible for you."

"Besides, I think you three forgot your own subordinates," Lireesa smacked her tongue. "Tsk.Tsk. I believe it won't be long before my soldiers win this battle." These trolls even put their own soldiers out of their considerations. They didn't even care about them. But what Lireesa had said somehow affected them, because if they couldn't defeat Lireesa Windrunner fast enough, your own threats and own existences be completely mocked and spread across the whole war. It wouldn't be long even their tribes would have knowledge of. Besides, the remaining elven soldiers would now have energy to help Lireesa to deal with them.

To add salt on their wounds, Lireesa ridiculed mercilessly, "A dog is a dog. It cannot change the way of thinking. Even the wolves in this forest were better than you. Perhaps your stupidity came from your mother. If you were dogs, your mothers were bitches too."

The trolls' eyes turned glowing and sharp, the intention to tear Lireesa into pieces washed over. Lireesa was unfazed by their looks. Finally, one of them mouthed, "Woman, you succeeded in having my attention on you."

Lireesa actually choked on the spot. Even if the current Lireesa didn't understand why her hairs stood up all of a sudden, it was definitely not due to the fear. Lireesa, who was reviewing through her memories only now had complaint. Why this troll spoke in a CEO sadomasochist drama style. Yes, Lireesa was originally sifting through her memories as if watching the scene 1000 years ago live action. She was smacking her lips owing to the the competence shown by the predecessors. In fact, she even felt like she was actually participating and making all of these actions and decisions. Suddenly, this troll even disturbed her trail of thoughts in the future. How great his ability was.

Back to the confrontation, moment later that troll finished his masculine speech, he immediately rushed to the front of Lireesa Windrunner in a blink of an eye. Expecting this reaction, Lireesa's face was cold and didn't have a change of emotion. She calmly performed a flight jumped backward, dodging the critical strike just an inch away from her skin. She didn't use the arrows but the concuss shot. She drew the bowstring forming this spell as soon as she noticed troll charge skills. Afterward, she fired all 3 arrows in her hand at once, hitting all vulnerable spots exposed by the troll, stumbling him and losing some of his fighting capabilities.

Lireesa was actually using tactics from the start. She knew taunting them to the brink of an anger explosion would result in such same scenario. Her prediction was correct and her reactions were all well thought of. Otherwise, she wouldn't bother to waste the energy during her speech. Now one was out of the fight for some times. Because she knew she couldn't kill, not under the watch of two other trolls, who also rushed up and struck their blades while the other immediately stood beside the wounded to block the killing move of Lireesa. They were also stunned by the following events. As soon as they fought, they had such outcome in just the first round.

Lireesa quickly jumped backward, creating a distance, and released her killing shots at the terribly injured one. As predicted, the one next to him block her three arrows. Feeling like being ignored by the enemy, the closest troll was in rage. He swung his blade with big momentum and such force, that there were whirling sounds. Lireesa patiently moved her body and avoided those big slashes and thrusts, while her direction was always backward. She also discovered another troll who blocked her attack went missing, probably in stealth mode to kill her in one fell swoop.

When the troll rushed over again, Lireesa parried his dagger with her bow as if she was holding a quarterstaff. While parrying she thrusted the bulging end point of the bow and hit his head stunning him for a slight second. Holding the bow with another hand, she struck again with the other side at the head. The troll was already dizzy from pain and his sense of direction was lost . His vision was blurry for a moment. She gave him a straight horse kick with all her waist strength, sending him 5 meters away. As soon as she had a distance, she immediately drew the bowstring without an arrow, but the energy arrow was formed, arcane shot. After releasing it, she didn't even pay attention and slanted her body to avoid the daggers being thrown at her by the first troll who fought with her. Now that he had no weapons the terribly injured troll was now out of the equation but another one was missing.

All of this appeared to be very long, but the whole process only took within 3 seconds. The two trolls were stunned until they heard a thud of a fallen troll, they regained their consciousness. They looked at the fallen troll and saw his heart area was hollow as if the whole heart was taken out. If Lireesa had aimed at the head, the fallen troll could probably move his head out from the arrow direction. Lireesa, hence, only aimed at the torso area, where it was hard to dodge when the distance was close and he was already in shock.

With only one troll in sight and the another in stealth, Lireesa didn't want to waste her time anymore, she drew arcane burst shot and released it at the injured troll. On impact, the body was decimated into pieces like a watermelon and the explosion also affected the invisible assassins, knocking him out from the stealth. Her mana points only a few remaining, she decided to only use conventional arrow. As she wanted to make her opponents unable to avoid her arrows, she released four arrows simultaneously, causing him to have no choice but to parry. Two of them managed to escape his parries. Lireesa rushed forward, closing in the opponent. It was a stupid behavior for range professions to engage in close combat.

However, Lireesa Windrunner was impossible not to have this knowledge. She had confidence and that's why she closed in. Except for arrows stuck in his body looking terrible, the troll had nothing wrong, albeit some movement was affected. Lireesa thrusted her bow, knocking his torso apart when he tried to swing his blades and put the arrow in subsequently. Lireesa used her bow as weapon in parrying and thrusting, while each time it was followed by the arrows. Soon, after several exchanges like that the troll was unable to move and left kneeling, his whole body like a porcupine. She ended his miserable life, shooting through his eye socket. The battle was over.
