Chapter 43: His majesty's summon

"Tell your majesty, I've heard his advice and not to worry about the situation here. Everything will remain under control." Lireesa didn't explain further because she knew even if they attacked the trolls now, apart from some moves from the opposing sides, trolls were likely to concede because of their own internal problems. A power vacuum currently existed at the moment since the chieftain of the trolls passed away and factions' infighting within consumed their resources. As long as Lireesa never poked them to the path of life and death situation, they would likely ignore her except for sending some troops as gesture. Otherwise, the trolls united earlier due to her intervention and the war between elves and trolls kicked off. And she became the sinner. All of these depended on the degree Lireesa played.

The situation in the northern part of eastern continent was neither the elves nor the trolls were keen on waging war over the others. The king didn't know. The high noble lords also didn't know. Lireesa inferred her judgment after investigating some troll leaders' names and deduced there were power struggles before they united and waged the Great War in her previous life memories. Although nothing more than some descriptions of leaders during this time were included, it was more than enough for her to arrive to this conclusion. This was one major factor driving her to such confidence, where Lireesa's plot preyed these trolls and boiled them in the pot. The frog inside was the trolls here.

"Your ladyship, please think twice before making this decision. I hope, you call your troops back. We still have time. Our king promises we'll solve this." Neron hurriedly advised and wanted to continue but Lireesa's hand stopped him in his track.

"So, you already know. I won't summon them back unless they completed their missions. Your excellency should report what you've seen back to his majesty." Lireesa spoke with vigor. "You and I undoubtedly comprehend the whole trend asked for it. There is no mistake about it. Windrunner must act and it shall be a thunder."

The young man face turned livid and his mind ashen as he realized what his king had asked for in the previous hours failed miserably in his hand. The woman in front couldn't be soothed, no matter what his persuasions were. She was stubborn and steadfast. There was no remedy, because even the king's personal influence dove into abyss. Lireesa savored his depressed outlook and reckoned the stage should be over. Her husband was not the only one during the troll's slaughter; many civilians were included in the list as well. Apparently, the public was merely notified the victims were members of Windrunner house and everyone was looking forward to their reaction. The high level controlled the public opinion and didn't fully report the news. Otherwise, the outrage would become worse than now.

The sudden appearance of trolls itself was questionable and everyone was suspicious. But they divided the public attention toward Windrunner. Since everyone's eyes were on her, Lireesa must respond aggressively and remind others their Windrunner surname wasn't for nothing. In Lireesa's view, someone was attacking her family now and she had no idea the identity of the opponents. She had her guess, and she believed the king thought the same way. Because according to the previous life game, the story foretold traitors existed among the ranks of lords, even deep in the Silvermoon city. She wasn't sure if there were one or two traitors, who damaged the vitality of high elves. The reason wasn't for Quel'Thalas nor for the benefit of high elves; it was merely selfishness.

Although there ran around many thoughts inside Lireesa's head, she decided to halt saddening the young man in front and asked. "What other messages your excellency brings? You don't need to be too stiff, because I'm not someone easily incited by speeches."

Who believe in your words, just now you become two faces. He exclaimed bitterly in his heart. He swore he would never take the task of coming to Windrunner. None of her followers gave him face and the Lady herself was very unpredictable.

Lireesa studying him understood the deep thoughts in his mind would never speak good about herself. Even if his facial expression remained the same, his eyes told the tale. She never lived by other opinions. It didn't matter what others thought of her. She knew from day one after living with her friends and daughters, immersed in this lovely affection, she must protect this scene and eliminated any threats which stood in her way, even if she had to swing the swords at her own people. For lireesa, her friends and daughter came first, and then her followers. The last was people of Quel'Thalas. Different from her predecessor, who put the national interest her priority.

The old Lireesa might probably followed the king's will and swallowed her grievances inside. But she wasn't her and would never swallow the bitter pill. However, even if she wasn't griefing, the current affair was the necessary step for her to take if her ideas were to be brought to light.

Lireesa noticed the commotions at the entrance saw her friend Ella sprinting in and composed herself before nodding at the entourage as a greeting and sat beside her. Ella held her hands firmly as if to tell Lireesa she was there for her. At first, Ella was confused at Lireesa's appearance completely contrast to her usual demeanor and soon understood why. She also glanced at the young man in front again and couldn't help smack her tongue, worried whether his heart could withstand Lireesa's drama.

Neron cleared his throat and continued what he had in mind. "Naturally, there is more milady. And it is the last one, I promise. His majesty invites your ladyship to Silvermoon to discuss the ongoing investigations and measures. His majesty also states, it doesn't have to be immediate, and your grace can come at any time."

Lireesa nodded her head and looked at her friend besides to help. Ella understood Lireesa's stare and replied to Neron, "Our Lady isn't feeling well and she woke up not long. There are many complex issues requiring her ladyship's control. I believe Lady Lireesa wouldn't be able to attend the summoning until a week later. I hope his majesty sympathized with our lady and understood Windrunner's current difficulties."

Lireesa also added, "Besides, some private matters with regards to my guards also required some times. I might actually be free only 10 days later. So much paperwork involved."

"But this isn't good right to let his majesty waited too long." Neron said gritting his teeth. He never expected Lireesa to extend the timeline and she dared. He couldn't fathom why she devised such arrangement at the risks of upsetting the king. Ella was also amazed and wondered what Lireesa had in mind. "In case I'm blamed for.."

"No need, just tell the exact words I spoke and his majesty will understand." Lireesa interrupted his complaint and slouched back at her seat in dismay as if the whole conversation took all her energy. "If there is nothing else, please forgive my offense I may not be able to sojourn with your excellency. I had to rest and Ella besides me will entertain your excellency in my place."

Ella knew the stage should conclude and asked the entourage. "Your excellency, it appeared our Lady is tired and needed rest. I hope your excellency can have a meal in our manor before going back to Silvermoon."

"I'm grateful your grace. Lady Lireesa, I also have urgent matters to attend. I'll be leaving soon." Neron stood up and bowed at the two, who also return the salute.

"I'll be sending your excellency back." Ella stretched out her arm in the direction of exit.

"Thank you, your grace." The two left the manor and Lireesa stopped pretending. She glimpsed around at her servants and exhaled her breath relieved they were able to withhold themselves from destroying her whole stage. She was worried, someone might laugh out during the conversation.

"You can laugh as soon as that guy flied away." Her subordinates complained. Lireesa's speech instead decreased their tolerance. Their hilarious expression caused Lireesa to chuckle out holding her belly. The others had black lines all over their head and even hallucinated crows screeching above. What else could they say to their lord who broke her own instructions. Fortunately, the entourage was far away, and his level wasn't high enough.

"Mommy, Mommy!" Lina entered the room and jumped over Lireesa, who quickly picked her up and held dearly in her arms. She fondled her daughter's hair and heard her daughter said. "I also want to go to Silvermoon city. I heard it's very big."

"Us too. We want to follow you, mother." It was the voice of Sylvanas and Vereesa who sweated from training and their greasy smell permeated the whole room. It wasn't disgusting, but the scent definitely wasn't likeable despite composed of florals. Because their beautiful frangance mixture with sweats resulted in a weird aroma.

Lireesa glared at them and said angrily, "Go washup first before you discuss this with me. Your sister Lina is here, don't let her learn from you." Sylvanas rolled her eyes at mother and Vereesa was confused. They still adhered to her mother's command and went to the bathroom.

Lireesa rubbed her chin and never expected her three daughters to follow her. She missed her eldest Alleria, who might complain her mother for biasness. She changed her plan at the moment Lina hopped on her and this girl still mumbled so much she never really could listen. Lireesa knew Lina was describing what she knew about the legendary Silvermoon city. It seemed the king's summon had now changed to family outing. Who cared about the monarch? Her daughters were always the first.

With Lina on her knees, she also contemplated the finance of Windrunner house. Although they weren't frugal, she really didn't possess huge amount of gold. While her childhood friend struggled at the frontline, she must also earn many gold coins to sustain her own war, because Quel'Thalas would never support her. As a transmigrator if she couldn't find a way to prosper in the ancient times, she should sincerely knock herself out. The first step for her success was to find gold coins.
