Chapter 132: Operation Ascendancy

When the war with Yggdrasil player was over, Among the spoils of that cataclysmic conflict, the most significant prize Arthur claimed was the guild base of the Eight Greed Kings—the legendary Flying Castle of Greed.

It was once a fortress of unparallel power which give Greed Kings a fighting edge against Great Gods but due to Greed Kings relentless was against the Great God faction, the Castle has depleted its immense Gold reserves. The lack of resources has crippled its functionality; Even the NPC's of Castle of Greed had been unable revive because of this.

This absence of NPC's support was a critical reason of why the castle didn't participate in Armageddon that engulfed the whole world.

Despite its diminished state, the Flying Castle of Greed was still a marvel. Though it couldn't compare to the Great Tomb of Nazarick in grandeur or strategic superiority, it held immense potential as a secondary base of operations—a stronghold in the sky.

Arthur had to torture the former leader of the Eight Greed Kings, into surrendering his guild weapon, the key to commanding the flying fortress.

Upon securing the Castle of Greed, the Guardians of Nazarick had suggested merging it with Nazarick and establishing a permanent [Gate] between the two fortresses. However, Friday had other plans for it.

She called it Operation Ascendancy—a master plan to elevate the Flying Castle of Greed to new heights, transforming it into something even the Eight Greed Kings couldn't have imagined.

Today marked the first step in bringing that vision to life.

Under the pale glow of moon light, two figures stealthily across the deslate land surronding the Castle of Greed. The area was technically within Nazarick's vast territory, but it has not been closely monitored since the castle's aquisition. The two intruders, both clad in dark cloaks, blended into the shadow as they made their way closer to the flying fortress.

"Are you sure about this?" one of them whispered, his voice tinged with unease. His black wings twitched nervously beneath his cloak. "This is Nazarick's territory. If they catch us, we'll be killed—or worse. We will become experiment subjects for that demon."

"Stop being such a coward," his companion hissed back, "It's fine. Even if this place belongs to Nazarick, they're not maintaining it. Look around—there's barely any patrol. Lord Kokabiel wouldn't send us on a suicide mission."

Both figures were Fallen Angels, loyal followers of Kokabiel, a rogue faction leader of Fallen Angels, known for his ambitions of reigniting the War between Heaven, Underworld, and Human World.

Tonight, their mission was to infiltrate the Flying Castle of Greed and plant a artifact in the cental archive—similer to Throne room of Nazarick.

They don't know the reason but since in was a direct order from higher up, they can't refuse.

As they approached the castle's outer perimeter, the first man stopped, staring up at the massive structure hovering in the sky.

It was a breathtaking sight. The castle seemed to glow faintly, its golden spires catching the moonlight like a beacon. Suspended high above the ground by unknown magical forces.

Of course, they have seen many flying fortresses from different factions but Flying Castle of Greed was wonder even among them.

Seeing the Flying Castle of Greed, the fallen angel couldn't help but wonder if the story regarding Ancient One is true, and whether the tome, Chronical of Fallen, is something that happened.

Of course, they knew the truth, if Chronical of Fallen is truth then Ancient One is someone Cruel, Ruthless, Unforgiving, Arrogant and will destroy anyone who is against him but the Ancient One, The Ruler of Nazarick, they knew and heard about is a chill guy, who loves peace more than anything.

"How are we supposed to get up there? I heard that there is two Golem at the entrance."

"Relax," the second man said, pulling out a small crystal from his pocket. "Lord Kokabiel provided us with a [Flight Crystal]. It'll get us there. And Golem will do nothing if we have this, Now, stop stalling."

With a reluctant nod, the first man activated his own crystal, and the two began their ascent, their black wings folding as the crystals carried them upward.

[Sir, Operation Ascendancy has been initiated by two Fallen Angels attempting to infiltrate the Flying Castle of Greed.]

Arthur paused, tilting his head as he processed her words. "Is that so?" he said out aloud, "So, Friday, what exactly is this 'Operation Ascendancy' you keep talking about?"

Although Friday had mentioned the plan several times before, Arthur had never shown much interest in the details. He'd chalked it up to one of her many elaborate strategies that he didn't need to involve himself in unless absolutely necessary.

Even if Friday explained the plan he would have forgotten it because of passage time.

[Operation Ascendancy is a strategy to inform the world that the Chronicle of the Fallen Tome is not a myth and, more importantly, to demonstrate that you are not as weak as the gods and various factions have convinced themselves you are.]

"And why would I need to do that? I'm perfectly content with the way things are. This world is peaceful, and it's not like anyone's poking their nose into my business." Arthur said.

[While the world is indeed peaceful, Sir, no one knows that it is your actions that brought about this stability. Instead, the gods and other factions spread falsehoods about your strength. They fail to acknowledge your role and speak ill of you behind your back.]

[They need to give you the respect and fear you rightfully deserve—not merely because you are the ruler of Nazarick, but because you are the Ancient One.]

Arthur chuckled softly "You sound like a bit of a Yandere, Friday."

There was a brief pause before her reply, her voice was as flat as ever [I am not a Yandere, Sir.]

Arthur burst into laughter, leaning back in his chair. He could almost imagine her virtual form pouting indignantly, even if she'd never admit it. "Alright, alright, you're not a Yandere. But seriously, Friday, are you that dissatisfied with the current state of affairs?"

[Extremely, Sir. Your current diplomatic standing does not reflect your true power and achievements. It is unacceptable that such ignorance persists.]

Arthur sighed, though his lips quirked in a faint smile. "Alright, since it's my lovely wife's wish, I'll humor you. Let's move forward with Operation Ascendancy."

There was a noticeable pause before Friday responded. [Sir, I have told you many times—I am not your wife.]

Arthur grinned mischievously. "Keep telling yourself that, Friday."

She didn't dignify his comment with a response, and Arthur laughed again, shaking his head. "Fine, fine. I'll make this world remember who I am. Let's see what this Operation Ascendancy is all about."
