Prologue

Adrian - Royal Historian

Adrian had spent countless hours poring over ancient tomes and scrolls, piecing together the history of his kingdom. Among the many emperors and dynasties he studied, one stood out above all others: Emperor Zenki.

Zenki was a man of contrasts, known both for his foolishness and his wisdom. During the early years of his reign, his princes and princesses schemed against each other, while his officials prioritized their interests above the needs of the kingdom. Meanwhile, Zenki himself indulged in a life of debauchery.

But then something changed. In the latter half of his rule, Zenki began passing reforms that improved the lives of his people. The princes who once vied for the throne now worked together to better the kingdom and the princesses shed their spoiled ways in favor of compassion and kindness. Even Zenki's three empresses became close friends, and his officials focused on the betterment of the kingdom rather than their own wealth.

Many theories circulated about what caused this dramatic shift. Some claimed Zenki was possessed by another being, while others suggested he had been pretending to be a fool all along. The most popular theory, however, was that Zenki had received a divine order to mend his ways or face eternal punishment.

Adrian couldn't help but wonder what truly drove Zenki's transformation. But one thing was certain: the changes he brought about ensured the prosperity of the kingdom for years to come.
