Commoners’ Outskirts

When Melina and I descended from the air into one of the commoner areas outside the capital's walls, we noticed the shabby state of it.

Their wooden houses were rotting and crumbling down, and the seemingly green patches of grass were all replaced by dirt.

The people walked around with a heavy, metallic necklace that marked them as slaves, dragging their feet on the ground as they walked by with somber expressions.

'It's like a zombie town…' I thought.

They all seemed quite frightened by our presence, not even daring to look at us, which had to do with the fact we were dressed like nobles from their country.

A little boy and girl were walking by, holding hands with their faces covered in dirt and scratches.

The girl had long, disheveled blonde hair and green eyes, while the boy had straight jet-black hair and a mid-bob haircut.

The girl seemed to be confidently leading the boy somewhere while the boy apprehensively followed.
