ARES'S POV
My family had taken the news better than I had anticipated. Alastor stared shocked as he poured himself another drink, Anastasia was overjoyed that my date wouldn’t be Christina, and for the first time in my life, my mother was speechless. I refused to tell them anything else about Leilani and had adamantly requested that they wait for tonight to meet her themselves and come up with their conclusions about her.
As the limo drew closer to Leilani’s house, I began to second-guess my decision not to tell them anything about her. Should I have prepped them on the type of person she was? It was nerve-wracking enough having this be the moment that they would meet, but I couldn’t think of anything better. I was blindsided when she asked what we were, and I couldn’t think of anything.
I wasn’t sure what we were, but I knew for a fact that there was no way in hell that I could or would give her up.
