Mary is a nurse in her mid-twenties. She originally became a nurse for the money, but soon realized that her true passion was to make people feel better and happy. She started volunteering at a nursing home on her days off to make a difference in people's lives.
Unfortunately, the zombie outbreak occurred when Mary turned thirty years old, and she saw all the elderly people she had cared for turn into mindless walking corpses. This traumatized Mary, and she fled to her home as quickly as possible. Once there, she prayed to her grandfather, whose ashes were in an urn. To her surprise, her grandfather's ashes flowed out of the urn and entered her body, turning her into a half-zombie with pale skin.
Confused about her newfound abilities, Mary ventures out into the world and discovers that zombies don't attack her. She starts helping survivors by bandaging their wounds and offering medical assistance. During her journey, she comes across a little girl who has been bitten by a zombie and is turning into one. Mary considers amputating the girl's infected leg to stop the virus from spreading, but realizes that it's not a viable solution in the midst of an apocalypse.
She then thinks of a unique idea: she starts sucking the virus out of the girl's leg. To her surprise, it works, and Mary gains the ability to use a healing superpower. The little girl survives with her whole body intact, and Mary gains a reputation as a "zombie goddess" among the survivors. The government also deems her a "neutral zombie" who isn't a threat.
