The Weight of Guilt

"We have Leon," Charlotte retorted, trying to find some reassurance in their evolved companion.

Meryl's expression remained serious. "Leon can't be with us all the time, and we can't rely on him alone. We need to be prepared and find a safe place. Not this . . . prison."

Charlotte roamed her eyes and commented. "This is a nice prison, though. We have electricity, food, and water, and we can freely roam around here.

Meryl grumbled under her breath. "It's still a prison. And Leon just newly evolved. Compared to Eva, he's like a chick up against a dinosaur.

"I might not know much about these evolution things, but that girl, Eva, singlehandedly killed that abomination in the factory."

Charlotte couldn't find any words to counter Meryl's observation, as much as she wanted to deny it. Eva's capabilities were awe-inspiring, and she wasn't confident that they stood a chance against her if she turned hostile.
