A Little Bit Of Fun

Brian's afternoon was filled with more paperwork and a meeting with the board to discuss the happenings of the other departments. He hated the time between closing one case and opening another, he never knew what to do with himself.

When he arrived home from work, Brian was greeted by another one of the members of his personal staff.

"Welcome home, sir. Shall I take your jacket?"

"Afternoon, Katie. Don't worry about hanging it up in the closet, just hang it on the hook. I will be leaving right after I change."

"Yes, sir," Katie said. Taking his jacket, she did as he had ordered, hanging up the jacket on one of the hooks by the door.

Katie Melynk was his housekeeper. She did the shopping, the laundry, and kept his apartment clean. She came over every morning after he left for work, to tidy up, pick up his socks, make his bed and rinse the toothpaste out of the sink. As well as do the other house chores Brian had never done a day in his life.

Brian headed into his closet. Hanging up his suit jacket, before changing out of his shirt and into a dark green one, swapping to a green tie as well. Returning to the kitchen, he took the pack of gum Katie passed him taking one before he passed it back to her.

Heading out of the apartment he headed back down to his car. Setting course for one of his favourite bars in town.

Stepping through the doors, into the bar, he let his gaze wander around. The music was loud and upbeat, and colourful lights danced around the walls. On one side was the bar, a dozen high tables sat dotted around it. There were a dozen bar stools sitting at the bar. In the far corner was a stage, where live musicians often played but today, there was a déjà; in front of the stage, a large dance floor was spread out.

The lights where dim. The place smelt of booze, perfume, and cologne. There were quite a lot of people, but the place wasn't all that crowded, not that Brian had expected it to be on a Monday night.

Crossing to the bar he sat down on one of the stools.

"Evening, Detective, scotch?" the man behind the bar asked.

Brian had been coming to this bar since before he was 21. The man behind the bar, Evan Kisinser, Brian almost considered a friend.

"Please, make it a double," Brian said leaning forward against the bar, "and a bowl of peanuts."

Evan nodded turning around to scoop up some peanuts into a basket and placing them down before he poured the drink. "So, I guess things didn't work out with that girl from the other night."

"No," Brian said taking a sip and sighing heavily. "She was a terrible person. Decent in bed but that was the only thing going for her."

"I could have told you that," Evan said with a small smirk. "Who knew a splash of vodka was too much, God I hate people like that."

Brian nodded slowly. "I think I need a new strategy — this bar is great — but none of the girls I meet here are wife material." He rubbed his face in his hands.

Evan poured a drink for another customer before he turned back to him "so why not go hang out at gyms or something? Go find a nice park."

Brian considered the suggestion, shaking his head. "I don't know — Don't you think walking around a park and checking out women is a little stalkery?"

"Okay, so find a reason to be at the park — Get a puppy. That would probably attract nice girls."

Brian looked down at his drink with a slight nod and shrugged "that is not a terrible idea." It would be nice to have another creature around his apartment. Evan did have a point — puppies did attract girls. Not just any girls, though, puppies attracted girls that might be wife material. Girls which he would be attracted to both in bed and during the day.

"You are only twenty-seven. Are you sure you want to settle down?" Evan asked. "I mean to the average man; your lifestyle sounds pretty exciting."

Brian shrugged. "I haven't had a long-term relationship since college. I was 15 when I started dating Kathy, I haven't had a serious relationship since we broke up after college, I was 19. I don't even know if I can call what I just had with Jessica a relationship."

"Three-day relationships are easy, a lot easier than actually committing to a woman."

"True, but eventually they get rather old."

"Before you know it you will be settling down and trading your bachelor pad in for a minivan, enjoy the single life while it lasts man," Evan said, his attention torn off Brian, a moment later, "hey! If you are going to throw up, go outside. Do not do it in my bar!" With that, he was off to deal with some other patrons.

Brian turned his gaze up from his drink to the back wall, examining the hundreds of bottles that sat there. His mind was busy, sure there were aspects of his lifestyle that he was sure would never get old. He got to do as he wished, he had no one else depending on him to come home at a regular hour. There was no wife waiting at home making him feel guilty when he decided to stick around the office later than usual. But one visit with his brother and he craved little feet running to the door to greet him when he came home or sharing a bed with someone who he was committed with.

He had achieved so much in such a short time professionally. He entered the police academy at 18 and joined the police force six months later. He was in the field barely 16 months before he was promoted to a Major Crimes Detective, the fastest promotion in DC in nearly a century. Then armed with five years of experience and a long list of references Brian began the move to the private sector. Building his own company from the ground up. The challenge was the hardest in his life but more than worth it. Today, Brian dedicated his life to protecting and serving the citizens of Washington DC.

His office worked with the Metropolitan Police Department, InJustice Inc had become something of a large empire in its two years of existence. It branched off into many different areas and industries. Law, innovation, research, stock markets, and much more. A percentage of the revenue brought in from the many other departments went into funding the Major Crimes Department and its operations. Along with some grants from the government, the Major Crimes Department was able to fund expensive equipment and toys which allowed them more tools than their public counterparts, could ever dream of. Brian's team spent the majority of their time working on high-profile cases that the District Attorney presented him with. Often working on cases that involved drug cartels, crime bosses, and serial killers.

At the prime age of 27, Brian was one of the richest men in Washington DC. Now it was time to focus on his personal life, give it the time and energy that it so badly needed.

Brian was pulled from his thoughts when a girl sat down beside him. His untamed gaze took a moment to wander over her body. Ah fuck, she was stunning. Her very dark brown, thick hair ran down her back in a gentle wavy curl. She was muscular with an hourglass figure. Her ass was huge. She was wearing a red dress that hugged her figure in all the right places, accentuating her figure perfectly.

"Hello," Brian said in greeting turning to look at her face.

The girl looked up at him, her grayish-blue eyes quickly dancing over his figure. Her expression turned from annoyingly skeptical to interested.

"Hi," the girl said, leaning against the bar a casual smile crossing her face.

Brian twitched his face into his classic half-smile which charmed so many women into doing anything he wanted. His devilish good looks and carelessly charming nature had always been a secret weapon of sorts. "What are you drinking?"

The girl ran her hand through her thick hair. "Apple martini."

"Another scotch, Evan, and an apple martini for the lady, please," Brian said, his gaze travelling briefly towards the bartender as he returned behind the bar.

"Thank you. What is your name, handsome?"

"Brian," he said with a charismatic kind of tone. Delicately shaking her hand.

"Tracey."

Brian turned his gaze down to the fresh drink that Evan placed in front of him, taking a sip. He ran his hand through his hair, glancing back at the girl.

"So, Brian, do you come here often?"

Brian nodded "nearly nightly. What about you?"

"It's my first time here. The one I normally go to was getting a little dry."

Brian bit his lower lip between his canine teeth. "Well, I'm sure you'll find this one has a lot to offer." He didn't notice just how close she had moved until he could feel her warmth under his shirt.

Tracey looked at him with a stunning smile "perhaps you can show me." She drained her glass, getting to her feet. "Follow me, if you dare," she murmured as she stretched up towards his ear. Her warm breath against his ear caused a jolt of excitement to shake his core.

Brian's gaze followed her as she made her way over to the bathroom. He paused, hesitating, this was not part of the plan. He was supposed to be looking for someone to actually have a relationship with, a true relationship, not just one with sexual benefits. His gaze travelled around the bar, the likelihood that his future wife was in the room at this current moment was minimal. What the hell?

Finishing his drink, he got to his feet and walked across the room to the bathroom. He pushed open the door and stepped inside, locking the door behind him.
