I pulled my mind back to the conversation. My mind occasionally wanders to devilish and extreme concepts, as if coaxing and seducing me into making my thoughts a reality.

I felt my second heart beating quietly as I subconsciously clutched my chest under the table.

"But you don't have to be concerned about it. You will be automatically protected by the Kraus family if you join my club. Even if a family member tries to stand in your way, he or she must first answer to me."

I cast a furtive glance at Eliza. She knew her own uncle was after me, yet she was willing to go against him for my sake. Ahem.

I couldn't say I didn't enjoy it. Being protected by women is nothing to be ashamed of, even if I don't need it. I appreciate the thought.

"I appreciate it."

"You thanked me so many times today."
