Chapter 44

“We’re here.”

The sight of the vast Montes from the hilltop left me speechless. I couldn’t help but notice the two stones that were in front of us.

“This is where I buried Don Ignacio and Lady Stella.”

I couldn’t speak and just stared at the two stones with their names.

“Are you ready to hear what I have to say, Ana?”

I looked at the Detective who was gazing into the distance. The wind picked up, so I held on to my hair. I didn’t know why, but my heart was pounding so hard.

I knew I was ready, but… why did I feel like I wanted to go back to the hacienda?

“Ana.”

I blinked and turned to the Detective who was looking at me.

“I want to tell you the truth about the tragedy that happened 28 years ago. When they removed the Montes family.”

I just stared at the Detective as the wind blew.

“Tell me everything,” I said. He just smiled and looked back at the town.
