The ordinary world is not what it seems.
Many strange events unfold in the background but go unnoticed by the masses or are covered up.
A supernatural world exists along with the natural world which can only be seen by those called Balancers.
Spirits and Evil Spirits exist along with Balancers who possess unique powers to see and fight them.
Among the many ordinary humans, a girl undergoes a lot of suffering and experiences a prophetic vision.
It grants her knowledge of the hidden world and of some future events.
The girl loses almost everything she has and then takes the steps needed to become a Balance Breaker.
Her past identity has to be abandoned for the sake of survival so she renamed herself Ash.
Ash gains the powers of a Skin-Walker and begins living in such a world taking on the appearances of others, experiencing their lives and living under the mask of another person.

No matter how much Ash studied the book, there were some areas which had been left too vague or had not been updated.

It was common for old books to have many parts where the current generation would be unable to understand them.

There would be some areas where their understanding of such techniques and explanation had not been developed completely to allow a clear and concise explanation.

Compared to back when it must have been written, many people had already contributed towards many different fields of study allowing for many advancements that opened up new approaches and provided explanations for many subjects that were difficult to understand in the past.
