The ordinary world is not what it seems.
Many strange events unfold in the background but go unnoticed by the masses or are covered up.
A supernatural world exists along with the natural world which can only be seen by those called Balancers.
Spirits and Evil Spirits exist along with Balancers who possess unique powers to see and fight them.
Among the many ordinary humans, a girl undergoes a lot of suffering and experiences a prophetic vision.
It grants her knowledge of the hidden world and of some future events.
The girl loses almost everything she has and then takes the steps needed to become a Balance Breaker.
Her past identity has to be abandoned for the sake of survival so she renamed herself Ash.
Ash gains the powers of a Skin-Walker and begins living in such a world taking on the appearances of others, experiencing their lives and living under the mask of another person.

Those who had the wealth and power could easily make it so that they would have many others to block danger from ever being able to reach them even if it was at the risk of their own lives.

It was like the world had been made for them and that they could do as they wished.

Everyone else was just pawns that could be used and discarded based on their whims.

Everyone else who was there acted as a shield wall all around him to protect him from any danger since they needed what he and his family could give them.

They needed to earn a reputation for themselves to have a better position in the Capital and they needed the money to support themselves and to keep their operations running.
