The ordinary world is not what it seems.
Many strange events unfold in the background but go unnoticed by the masses or are covered up.
A supernatural world exists along with the natural world which can only be seen by those called Balancers.
Spirits and Evil Spirits exist along with Balancers who possess unique powers to see and fight them.
Among the many ordinary humans, a girl undergoes a lot of suffering and experiences a prophetic vision.
It grants her knowledge of the hidden world and of some future events.
The girl loses almost everything she has and then takes the steps needed to become a Balance Breaker.
Her past identity has to be abandoned for the sake of survival so she renamed herself Ash.
Ash gains the powers of a Skin-Walker and begins living in such a world taking on the appearances of others, experiencing their lives and living under the mask of another person.

Ash became more comfortable with the repetition of the chant and watched on as the balls of light entered a frenzied state.

It was like they all wanted to tear each other apart and were taking a piece for themselves during their little battle.

It looked like the balls of light were just bouncing around into each other so it was difficult to fully comprehend what was happening unless someone noticed the most subtle of differences.

The best way to explain it was that they had been under an influence which caused them to attack and devour anything within their surroundings.

Their usual harmless behavior had become one of aggression.

They had a great hunger for Life Energy which they had no control over.

Whatever instincts they had previously that let them act as they had before had left them.
