The ordinary world is not what it seems.
Many strange events unfold in the background but go unnoticed by the masses or are covered up.
A supernatural world exists along with the natural world which can only be seen by those called Balancers.
Spirits and Evil Spirits exist along with Balancers who possess unique powers to see and fight them.
Among the many ordinary humans, a girl undergoes a lot of suffering and experiences a prophetic vision.
It grants her knowledge of the hidden world and of some future events.
The girl loses almost everything she has and then takes the steps needed to become a Balance Breaker.
Her past identity has to be abandoned for the sake of survival so she renamed herself Ash.
Ash gains the powers of a Skin-Walker and begins living in such a world taking on the appearances of others, experiencing their lives and living under the mask of another person.

Rather than taking the usual approach, they had chosen to seek out an alternative method that was not within the confines of the law so that was why they had sought out an organization like Cerberus.

If they just wanted to find out more about the people involved who put the victim through such things then they would have sought out the assistance from the police or a private investigator instead.

If they had to then they would have had to look into the matter themselves if they really wished to dig deeper without letting other know or get involved in it.

Since they had chosen to take such actions already then the task itself was not as simple as just investigating them a little.

There was another task which would follow afterwards which would likely be taken by someone else.

There was a possibility that her thoughts had been wrong and that there had been less of a reason behind them being targeted.
