“Mark, if you help me, I promise I will do anything for you in return. Just as long as cheating is not involved.”

“You will do anything I want?” Mark probed, his eyes glittering as he focused on her. He now seemed more interested in her promise than in whatever it was she wanted from him.

“Yes, I give you my word.”

Mark stared into her eyes and seeing how desperate she was, he leaned back into his seat and tapped his fingers on the table. “Careful what you promise, Darling, I’m not a good boy.” 

“I don’t care,” Elena replied with determination in her eyes. “I’m not a good girl either.”

Alan snapped his gaze back to Mark. "Enemy of progress," he muttered to his hearing.

"I'm glad we agree on one thing." Mark looked unfazed by his reaction as he watched Elena shake hands with Sam who was more subtle with his actions.

At least he didn't have two extremely crazy friends otherwise, it would be tiring dealing with both at the same time.

"Alan? Sam? Elena is my girlfriend," Mark announced, taking Elena's hands in his.

For three seconds straight, neither Alan nor Sam reacted to the surprising news. Their buddy, Mark is dating?

"Come, I will…" Mark was ready to lead Elena away when Alan grabbed his hand. "Are you serious?" He stared at Elena briefly with a smirk hanging at the corner of his lips. "She is your girlfriend?"

"Do I look like I would joke with something like this?" Mark asked at the same moment he grabbed his hand and flung it aside.
