“Mark, if you help me, I promise I will do anything for you in return. Just as long as cheating is not involved.”

“You will do anything I want?” Mark probed, his eyes glittering as he focused on her. He now seemed more interested in her promise than in whatever it was she wanted from him.

“Yes, I give you my word.”

Mark stared into her eyes and seeing how desperate she was, he leaned back into his seat and tapped his fingers on the table. “Careful what you promise, Darling, I’m not a good boy.” 

“I don’t care,” Elena replied with determination in her eyes. “I’m not a good girl either.”

After dinner, Elena carried Mia to the dining room and sat her on her lap while cuddling her.

"My sweet baby." She smiled while running her fingers through her hair. Mia's hair was too soft and as she continued to run her fingers through her scalp, the little girl leaned in more into her embrace and closed her eyes.

The second Elena noticed it, she stopped and wrapped her arms around her instead. "Mia, don't sleep. You still have to shower."

"I think you should help her shower now so she can sleep," Marie advised.

With that, Elena carried Mia away. She helped the little girl shower and dressed her in pyjamas before helping her climb into bed.

'Mia needs new clothes,' Elena made a mental note while patting her back gently.

"Mummy," Mia called out while staring at her face. "Mmmm…" Elena automatically flashed a smile. "What is it, baby?"

"Can you sleep with me tonight?" she requested.
