Getting Her Attention

Mark was no longer sure of whether to complete his statement or not. He was confused because he wasn't sure if the little girl knew he was her father, so he couldn't say that word yet.

Just when he had turned his head to the side to ask for Elena's help, she beat them to it. "I understand," she said with a small nod.

Marie knew what he wanted to talk about, plus the reason he stopped. There was no need to go on because Mia was all ears, and she was still kept in the dark.

Gently pushing the little girl who was resting her elbow on her thigh to the side, Marie rose to her feet. "What would you like to have?"

Mark to whom the question was referred to, shook his head with an apologetic gaze. "I'm fine, thank you."
